The Parker 61 is a narrower/thinner pen than the 51. It is to be expected that the caps are not interchangeable.
ETA: it is *possible* that a 51 MkIII and 61 could interchange caps, as that later model adopted a slimmer profile.

61 cap doesn't fit a 51 MK II aero. It didn't go all the way down, so it doesn't fit.
I have fooled around with 51s for a long time. I gave away a couple of good Mk II 51s recently on FPN, Right now I am going to take one of my last black ones for a conversion from the black hood and barrel to a Kullock swirly purple hood and barrel. I had looked for a donor pen for this project, but the prices have been up there on pens I would consider. Sometimes you have to be very patient for the right pen at the right price to come up on ebay.
