Default cross classic century 18 karat gold filled

Hello- I am new here. My father recently gave me his cross classic century 18 karat gold filled pen. I was hoping someone could tell me more about this pen including the value. I have tried searching myself and I am finding limited information. Thank you in advance.

First you need to determine exactly which pen you have.
There are THREE different Century pens. These are the original Century, the Century II, and the current production Classic Century.
Two of them are constantly mixed up in name; the "original" Century, and the Classic Century.

What is the diameter of the pen, as close as you can measure?

The original Century is smaller and lighter than the Century II, but not as thin as the Classic Century.
It has a pull cap, that matches flush with the body.
    The body is 9.8mm diameter.
I believe the original Century was only made in 10k and 14k gold, not 18k. Though there may have been an 18k special run.

    This is the Century II

The edge of the cap on the Century II is larger than the body.

The Classic Century (version 1) is 8.1mm is diameter.

I do not believe that the Classic Century was made in gold plated/filled.
But there is a predecessor, the Spire, that is very similar in size to the Classic Century, and it was made in gold plate/filled.

ac12 and I both like Cross pens, but I would interject that if the OP doesn't know about his pen, he shouldn't be held to the uncapitalized usage "classic century" as referring to the current output.

He doesn't say if the pen is a fountain pen, a rollerball, or a ballpoint pen. That might be interesting to know.

Taking a guess, however, I'd say he has a Cross BP in 18K rolled gold. The model I'm thinking of, offered on Amazon but out of stock and I'd say no longer manufactured, is the 2802. Those are offered on eBay, and a look at past prices should be helpful.

    Got me Jerome,
I automatically think fountain pen, when I shouldn't.
