    Default Ink of Crow

I've come to a point where it's time to own a black ink. Looking for suggestions for the deepest and darkest black that maybe even delivers a little sheen.

Brag on your suggestions a little, will you? Tell me why you like them?

Aurora Black, Herbin Perle Noire, and Sailor Kiwaguro are usual recommendations; i aint tried Perle Noire but the other two are both very black.

Kyo No Oto Nurebairo fits your bill. Perfectly.

    Deep and dark - check
Deivers a little sheen - check (not kidding)

I prefer Aurora Black, Herbin Perle Noire, but they only check half your boxes (though are excellent blacks)

Faber Castell Graphite. It just had a great matte feel about it

I like Aurora Black. Nice colour, easy to clean.

The only black I have left is Noodler's, but I'll be happy to send you a sample if you've had a chance to dig your empty bottles out of storage.

Wow. How long have you gone without a black ink?

Aurora Black is my favorite because it is black and silky without being too wet (Perle Noir).

I like Cross Black. I haven't used it on Tomoe River paper, so I don't know if it sheens, but it is a very black black.

Sailor Kiwa Guro, and you might want to add a bit (~10%) of Sei Boku for ravenish crowishness (I recently started putting about 10% of Kiwa Guro into my Sei Boku, approaching the same corvids from the other (the greenish-sheeny) side.
Otherwise: Aurora black (solid, ho sheen), J.Herbin Perle Noir and, best of all the non-water resistant ones (though it DOES put up a bit of a fight): Rohrer & Klingner "Leipziger Schwarz"

This is my suggestion also, I can send you a sample if you'd like.

Never heard of Kyo No Oto Nurebairo. That is a mouthful to say...lol. I don't need another black. I have Aurora-Black, Sailor-Kiwa guro and Noodler's-Bad Black Moccasin. All 3 are great inks to me. With the last one though, I don't leave it in my pen more than a week, flush then refill again if necessary. I have tried J. Herbin-Perle Noire and I loved it as well. I did NOT need another black, but it is a very nice black ink. My Zhivago is also a great ink, and mine looks black most of the time. I rarely see green. It is well behaved, and a good workhorse ink. I expected some green. If you use a paper towel to clean threads and wipe the top of the bottle, you see green. Maybe it is the pens I'm using.... Good luck on your search.

Unless, of course, you are Japanese. In that case I imagine it rolls right of the tongue

I have only used a sample of a Sailor ink, one of the Kingdom Notes.

    Ever.

Just ordered a bottle of Kyo No Oto Nurebairo from AP... Otherwise R&K "Leipziger" is still a good one, even w\out the sheen...

I saw on some threadorother that PR Black Velvet (or is that VB?) has a silvery sheen, but it might be Unobtainium by now. I remember wanting some.

Now if someone would make an ink called Grackle, and it really looked like grackles in sunlight...
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

    1) ... love your expression "threadorother"
    2) ... yeah, grackles; pretty amazing birds. Sailor's "Sei Boku" sometime gets close when flowing from a really wet nib, and from there onto Tomoe River paper.
    3) ...it is Velvet Black; AP has it for $11/66ml, couldn't see any sheen on the reviews I looked at, and I personally don't have any of this ink... (next order - might get a sample)

We have a large grackleflock living in the trees in the little cemetery out back. Delightfully picturesque when the whole crew perches on the stones in the morning.

I'd settle for Ink of Grackle.
