A little village sometimes is better than a city full of politics and manipulation. The worst people in a village is jab at each other once in a while to keep things from being boring
Well EoC, it seems you are now in an elite league of people. I rarely go there now a days, if at all due to all the "nanny controls" and fear of having a different opinion than the top 3%.
I have made mistakes here, and it appears I have been forgiven... it's a shame that "the other place" cannot learn from this.
I want to take a minute to thank everyone here for being much better human beings than there... thank you.

Was it something you posted or did no-one say?
As if there was any rhyme or reason for what they do over there...
You could aim for all the consistency you want in your participation strategy it won't make any of the shit they do over there make any more sense. For me that is probably the main objection, the baffling arbitrariness of the moderation there. Really good luck. heh.

I'm not going to go into the reasons because beyond "there were complaints", I don't know anything else.
What would I have done different? Nothing really. You cannot be responsible for the actions of others.
so sad that our community has such incidences. at least you are still here at fpg
Empty_of_Clouds (July 26th, 2017)
We have such incidences because people are people, and some of those people get given certain responsibilities. Alas there are some in positions of responsibility (calling it authority is stretching credulity) who seem to lack a moral compass.
It's also especially pathetic that some of the so-called moderators have to search out what's being said elsewhere and then run back and tell tales. Never an attractive trait in children, less so in (presumed) adults.

Oh my, I had no idea there was such rivalry between the two forums! I enjoy both a lot, except I find FPN more active in their Pelikan section, but the classifieds section at FPG is better I feel.
So whu'd'ya change yer name to?

This is how at least some of them think of us:
Of course, I don't criticize constantly and there must be an occasional post that has merit. Doesn't matter. And this is from the man who criticises FPN constantly from the safety of Fountain Pen Geeks and then comes along and thinks that his contributions have merit or value.

It's not much of a rivalry. If it were about fountain pens, there would be nothing to it at all, and people would flit back and forth without a thought to which forum was which. FPG simply has a contingent of people who have had negative experiences with FPN moderation. That site spits good (IMHO) people out with some regularity, and when it happens, there is commiseration over here...and criticism. This forum is an exercise in libertarianism made possible by the altruism of one individual, while FPN is a very highly-regulated place that is run as a business. You can get banned from FPN without meaning to. That won't happen here. Here, you'll have to work hard at it, very hard (unless you're a spammer)...until the day our benefactor shuts it down and we all get summarily and instantaneously booted.

Ah yes, I have noticed people are...let's say more open minded with their opinions here than over at FPN. I don't know, it seems like FP community is small as is already, I wish these arguments were not necessary.
Surprised I am still allowed on there, although I think I have rattled less cages over there.
Kind of tempted to go and cause trouble.
Especially now I'm too senior at work to get away with drawing spunking knobs on my co workers vans :'( the mischief is building up.

I don't think there's a rivalry between the boards. It's just that some of us were unjustly chucked out of there or chose to leave because the behaviour was unbearable.

Comparing the two boards, this one seems much more friendly and with higher signal-to-noise and knowledge ratios. The other one is much bigger and has much more content, but there is a lot more to sift through there too.
I'm glad I still have access to both, but if I had to choose only one, I'd probably stick to this one.
