Default early Pelikan 100N with extremely flexible nib

I had this set for a couple of years but thought it would be time to take some new pictures.

Pen an pencil are very early Pelikan 100N/AUCH200 with HR parts and old logo. But the really special thing is the nib of the pen. It's stamped with a single "P" and is extremely flexible.

I even made a short clip to show the flexibility. Follow this link to Flickr:

...of course, the bakelite box is nice as well!

    That P nib.

Much more flexible than my post war 100n, normal looking script...superflex. Easy full flex the level just under wet noodle. A fun nib. 5 X tine spread, that I strive to keep at 4 X, having read Richard Binder's fine article on metal fatigue.

My pen is much better than my Rooster Scratch.

    Quite nice hand writing Christof!

Is this more flexible than the Stenograph nib?

    here is a quick comparison:

The ST nib is as flexible as the "P" nib. But the flexibility of the ST nib is due to the geometry of the nib (long tines), while the "P" nib is made of paper thin gold tin. If the "P" nib had been made with long tines, it would certainly be a wet noodle.

(And it is remarkable what the Aurora 88 nib can do despite its small size!)

All three are nice semiflexible nibs. Full flex nibs as for example Waterman's #2 nibs write like this:

Wow, if my semi-flex fountain pens wrote like those I would be happy!

Lovely pen and Love that nib. Thank you for sharing this.
    @christof , I have a question. Today I just bought a Vintage M400 pen and I believe it belongs to 1950- 1960.
It has a 14K gold nib( Looks like it is F )
I read somewhere when all the vintage nibs are (on m400) is enough flex and springy, and nibs without arrow head engraving to the tine lines are ( Like your nib here with a "P " are the first generation and the best.
The rest of the second generation with lines engraving are less soft and springy they say. Do you have anything to add to this comment and thank you in advance .

No, I can't confirm that. I have found flexible examples of all generations of Pelikan nibs. At least up to the 90s.
In general, however, vintage Pelikan nibs are often overrated in terms of flexibility.

The special thing about these nibs is that they were offered with numerous tip shapes and grinds.

Thnak you Christop. I just got my Pen Pelikan 400 ( Gunter Wagner with M nib) It is amazing and very nice Medium soft type nib.
It is giving me enough fine lines to although it is a medium nib. this is my recent Pelikan after two M200 modern and a vintage M200 pens. I am in the look out for a M200N /M100 / M100N / AND M120 PENS .
I like their SPRINGNESS. Quite interesting writing experience.
Thank you for your above explaning.

Is impressive how many flexible nibs were available in the 20's-40's. Now so difficult to find real flexible new nibs.
