    Default matchy matchy: the cognac 2014 and amber 2004

    a decade apart, but hey, they do match pretty good! I've been a haphazardly getting pelikans, I read a few articles that said the amber matched the cognac, but couldn't find any pictures. So here you go, the 2014 release cognac and the 2004 amber rollerball and ballpoint.

    and this is tragic, I didn't plan things this way but the only demo pencil I have is the grey one. So close.
    ;_;

    and now I'm on my way to see if I can find a compatible rollerball for pelikans that is maybe a bit cheaper than $10. If anyone wants to trade their used blacks for my used blues, I have 2 of them and no interest in that colour whatsoever. Not sure how much ink is left in them, but chances are good because hey, who honestly uses rollerballs, anyway?

    I have the M250 Amber fountain pen. It differs from the Cognac in the nib & finial design, and some of the trim. When I bought a Cognac I was annoyed that it was the same material as the Amber. I decided it was too similar so I sold it on.
    I will never sell my Amber pen - it has too much sentimental value to me.

    Whereas I was pleased; no need to pine after an Amber any more. (Funnily enough I won't ever sell my Cognac because it was a birthday-ending-in-zero present.) I'm more irritated at Pelikan for doing another brown demonstrator again this year. There are other parts of the colour spectrum, for heaven's sakes.

    This is true. On the other hand their latest Edelstein ink was also brown. Perhaps it's the Pelikan brown period?

    On the original picture there is some difference in the barrel end. Is that the screw thread of the piston?

    Ah, well yes, if they'd planned the ink of the year tie-in better that might have helped. But you may be right, given the M800 Renaissance Brown and the M400 Brown Tortoise. Must be 70s retro year at Pelikan HQ.

    Guess Pel follows a color pattern. This is the year of the Brown

    Especially with the release of the M200 Brown marbled. I have it enroute and a Cognac.
