Default New fountain pen-lover from Lakewood, Washington

Hi all... I'm Martha.... I'm a retired and still part-time hydrogeologist. Since retiring I've discovered that I actually have some artistic talent! Got my first fountain pen last week (Sheaffer VMF), and one from Goulet Pens arrived 2 days ago (Lamy Al-Star in Blue-Green), and have one on order to arrive next week (Twsbi 580 in Turquoise) and another Lamy Al-Star in Limited Lilac. I was in HEAVEN when first felt the Lamy! Wow! It's a fine, but sure puts out a lot of ink.... I ordered an extra-fine nib replacement and the Limited Lilac will be extra-fine nib. Have listened to all of the Fountain Pens 101 YouTube videos from Brian Goulet, and looking forward to being a part of the FP community... Thanks for adding me.

Welcome! Geology is a bit of a hobby of mine, but I'm more of a hard-rock gal.

What nib did you get on the new twsbi? The turquoise is gorgeous.

I got medium nib. My first Lamy is Fine, and my next one will be Extra Fine along with 2 Extra Fine nibs, and my Twsbi is Medium... Seems like the Lamy Fine is pretty broad. Let me clarify the question I'm asking about post order... Right now, when I click on a thread, the first post is the oldest one... I want to be able to see the most recent post at the top instead of the oldest first... thanks!

Hi, Martha! The Lamy fine nib is more like a medium. What you are thinking of as a fine nib can be found on Japanese fountain pens (from the Kakuno and Metropolitan to the high end pens).

It's nice to have you with the group.
