Default Wing sun 698 nib dries up too fast

I have been using the Wing Sun 698 for a while now and the pen in many aspects is just great.

One problem that I have been having though, is the nib dries out too fast. Example of this would be, uncap write for a while, then stop hold it for 2 mins try to write again and it splutters / hard starts. Are there any known fixes to stop this problem ?

It could certainly be more than this but I'm wondering what ink that you're using?

I have 4- 698's and a new 618 and so far, haven't had any problems using Sailor, Montblanc or Waterman inks.

Did you give it a thorough washout prior to writing? Chinese pens are supposedly notorious for leftover oils, etc. from manufacturing.
