    How does that work?

    It's hard to explain, like all Japanese there are too many rules to follow... But each number can normally be read three ways for different purposes. But the Japanese also "modify" or "shorten" sounds for ease of reading.

    For example, the number 9 can be read kyu, ku, kokonotsu; 8 can be read hachi, ya, you, ha; etc...

    So mine is 360,
    3 = san, mi, sa
    6 = roku, mu, ro
    0 = lei, zero, or for mine, it's read as the letter sound "O"

    Default personalised licence plates - who has them and why?

    I bought my dream car which meant spending my savings.... hence the plate. Sometimes people buy a Porsche because they’re rich while others are poor because they bought a Porsche and my name is Nate or N8

    Funny side note. I wanted POORN8, but it has PORN in it and they wouldn’t let me ☹️

    Sounds a lot like owning a horse...

    Looks good; what products you use to keep it clean?

    Thanks! Nothing special, grocery store auto wash soap.
    The horse analogy sounds apt lol

    Are you saying my car looks dirty? ☹️ I thought I did a pretty good job. I do have it professionally waxed, but I like washing it.

    Not at all!!!

    I was just amazed at how good it looked for having only had 'ordinary' car soap!!

    Thank you! I meant that lightheartedly. No offense was taken. I find having waxed professionally once a year allows for simple/basic regular cleaning without the need for anything special. The guy who waxed it, and I kid you not, spent 7 hours on it. I felt bad for what he charged. He worked his tail off and it looked amazing, like a sea of liquid black. Black cars are just stunning when clean, my favorite color, but dang they show dirt well!!

    Quite believable, though your's is quite a smallish car, the paintwork needs to be cleaned, refined, and then coated.

    Ah, another Cayman owner!

    Here's mine. I don't have a personalized plate just yet, but I have been thinking "DINK" is appropriate...Dual Income No Kids.

    I've had a few other personalized plates in the past. I had "STX WRX" on a Subaru which I autocrossed in the SCCA's "STX" class, and the car was obviously an Impreza WRX. After that I owned a Miata and put "MIOTTER" on it as a plate. On my daily driven vehicle for the last several years I've had the plate "SCBY921". I've been using the same login/screen name on any and every forum for over a decade. It started on a Subaru specific automotive forum, and we had a rather large contingent of local owners, so I put the login name on a plate so others would know who the car belonged to. This plate has been on three different vehicles now, and will probably go onto a fourth next spring.

    And because we're getting nerdy about cars, here is naimitsu's pumpkin, which she coincidentally took delivery of as the leaves were falling off the trees.

    I love autumn as well, though it very quickly becomes an annoyance. We're nearly surrounded by oak trees. I spend several hours on multiple weekends cleaning up all the leaves and acorns that fall.

    I had one when I was younger. Now I just think they're pretentious and immature.
