Default Looks like a great place

I've used fountain pens for quite a while for writing. I'm moving from writing letters and taking notes with them, backwards, historically, to writing drafts with them. I'm dealing with carpal tunnel and having less than ideal access to the 'net, so I'm doing large amounts of writing off line. Fountain pens are easier on my hands.

I'm particularly interested in inexpensive ruled paper I can use for rough drafts with a fountain pen (Namiki Retractable F, or Lamy M); one-side only of the paper, or ink reccs for such paper.

I'm technically a card-carrying Medievalist, specializing in Medieval Celtic and English languages and literatures, but I generally write about Apple technology. I'm the sys admin for a large writers' community.

I've just started exploring inks; I'm trying samples and hoping to narrow down my list to buy a few bottles of ink to use.

This looks like a super community; thanks for having me.

Hi, Medievalist. A lot of people like Black & Red brand paper, which you can get in notebooks at Office Supply stores and on Amazon. If you prefer pads, almost anything that says "sugar cane paper" will work okay. Staples makes a brand of paper that I understand works well with fountain pens.

I'm sure others will chime in on what they like.

You can also get a pack of HP 28 or 32 pound paper, and make your own lined paper that works well with fountain pens.

I would second the Black&Red pads, I know a number of FP peeps that use them for note taking and general writing.
I'm not sure how accessible you are to Apica paper, but that is great. The standard A5 size are only about $3 for a 28 sheet notebook on Anderson Pens website.

    Yes!

I had to make iron gall ink in paleography classes; really delighted to find it's still used, and purchasable.

I still have two big bags of galls, and my students are planning to make some soon.
