    Default Maruzen Athena Ink

Pen Posse member went to the Nihonbashi branch of Maruzen and picked up some ink for me. These inks are sold only by Maruzen and a couple are can only be found at the Nihonbashi branch. Looks like some or all of the inks are made Sailor and come in the fluted bottles that Sailor packages for some companies. There were other Athena inks at the Pen Posse but these are the ones I picked up. Hopefully Ethernaturix will show off the others.

    Here's a teaser.

Those are interesting. What colors did you get? The bottles look nice, how big are they?

I'll have more details and swabs up tonight. Those just the colors I picked up from Gale. She brought back several more colors so I hope the others chime in.

Here are some swabs. The Akane and Renga did not come out very good in the picture. The Akane is a bit redder while the Renga is more brown in real life.

Nice colors, looks like you got a lot of sheen of the Eternal Blue. The Akane and Renge look interesting.

Those are beautiful colors! They look very sheen-y. I really like Hatobanezu--its blackish greyish bluishness looks complicated and yummy.

The Hatobanezu seems to be the big winner among all of the Maruzen inks Gale brought back. It is a fantastic grey.

I should get Gale to put up her test samples since she did them with much better handwriting and she demonstrated several of the colors I did not pick up.

I got only the Hatobanezu (and I will knife fight anyone for the remaining bottle in Gale's stash!) and an Athena Brown (not sure of the official name - maybe Sepia Brown, but it is dark). I LOVE the Hatobanezu, and when I say "knife fight," I mean I will say politely, "Oh, did you want that? Oh. I was juuuuust going for it. But, no, it's okay, you go ahead."

Obviously, I don't understand knife fights.

I'll give this a secondary bump.

    Two questions:

    1. How can we get these inks?

    2. Are they substantially different in character and behaviour from Sailor's usual fare?

From the first 2 sentences of the first post.

Pen Posse member went to the Nihonbashi branch of Maruzen and picked up some ink for me.
These inks are sold only by Maruzen and a couple are can only be found at the Nihonbashi branch.

You might be able to get one of the Japanese forwarders to get it for you.
I understand that is how people are getting Japanese domestic inks.
