I plan on being there Thursday and Friday, staying at the host hotel...

I'll be there all day Saturday - can't wait! I'm turning over every rock collecting $$ to bring with me!
Though I am on the vendor list, I've had to cancel. It's my favorite show of the year, too.
Change of plan. I'm going, but Saturday only as an attendee and roving buyer/seller without a table. It's the best show of the year IMHO.

Anyone going to the show that would be willing to pick up something for me from the Franklin-Christoph table?
Hi all, I'm new here and wondering if the Ohio pen show would be worth a 3-hour drive on Saturday if I'm new to the hobby and not interested in vintage pens or high-end/rare pens. Is it mostly geared toward serious collectors? I've been following their Twitter account and looking at their website in order to learn what I can. So far I've heard about some auctions, a calligraphy workshop, and nib grinding services. Anything else I should know in order to make an informed decision?
(For more backstory: My husband and I have acquired several of the typical starter models from Pilot, LAMY, and TWSBI in the last few months. We're interested in buying more, but mostly looking at "next step"-type mainstream options such as Faber-Castell Loom, TWSBI 580, Pilot Custom 74.)
The main focus is vintage pens - and there will be LOTS of them there!
That said - there will also be Retail vendors like Anderson Pens, Federalist Pens, ipenstore, etc., who sell mainstream new pens in varying price ranges. There will also be vendors like Franklin Christoph and Edison Pens and Ryan Krusac who make their own pens and are 100% worth seeing in person.
I'm going to say, with 100% certainty, that it will be worth the trip for you. It will be your best chance to browse and hold and test many many pens before deciding what the best next-step pen is for you. And, who knows, you may find a beautiful vintage/older pen that you take home as well. Plus the ink!!!

In my opinion, it is. It will open the whole fountain pen experience to you, whether collecting, using, writing or just learning. Having what is one of, if not the best shows only 3-hours away is fortunate. (I'll be driving 5 1/2 hours, and back, on Saturday!) You needn't spend a dime other than the nominal $5 admission.
