Every time this thread pops up I want one of these pens. Because it comes with the same nib as the Safari and Al-Star etc but doesn't come with the tripod shaped section I imagine it is as comfortable to write with as the Lamy Nexx. One of my problems with the slightly rubberised Nexx section is that it won't go down far enough into Diamine 30ml ink bottles for filling. It also attracts dust/bits to that slightly rubberised surface.

I see that this section looks like it is made from harder plastic and wonder if that means it will fill from Diamine 30ml ink bottles? Does anyone who has a Studio know the answer?

I have a black section on a Racing Green. The section will fit into a 30ml Diamine bottle - but only so far. If you look closely at BayesianPrior’s last post (#18) you can clearly see a very slight step down from barrel to section. At that point the pen becomes too wide for the opening. So you can fill directly when the bottle is up to 75% full but once the level drops the nib won’t reach the ink. HTH.

Well it's a slight improvement on the Nexx at least.

I bought a black forest last year, and it is a nice pen.
Looking at this thread I'm looking for the black section to replace the steel

    Pluses:
    - Smooth nib (EF-steel) with no flex
    - Well balanced
    - Posting is easy with a "click"
    - Looks good to me (some people despise the clip)
    - Black forest finish is very nice

    Minuses
    - It is a bit heavy
    - Steel section gets dirty easily

Vanness Pens has the Studio black rubber section w/out nib for $20.00

The Writing Desk in GB has the black section with your choice of any Lamy nib for £10.25 for the stainless steel nibs & £72.40 for 14k gold nibs. Shipping is very reasonable and the current exchange rate is very favorable to the US $.

Take your pick. Both seem to be currently in stock.

Glad to help. I like my Black Forest much better with the black section. Wish Lamy had made it that way to begin with. When you get yours, let us know what you think.

I bought the BlackForest (EF) in a whim, it just looked lovely at AndersonPens in the Palmer House hotel.
It is a nice pen for every day, much better than the Safaris and a bit heftier than the Logo that I had. Nib is a Lamy, nothing special though

I ordered both black section and a black EF nib so it'll be a black forest at night!
I'll let you know next week after the pieces arrive

I love the way the Studios post. Securely but without relying on friction on the barrel which could, over time, wear away the barrel's finish. I wish more pens posted this way. The black nib will be a nice touch.

It looks a whole lot better IMHO
Now I need a better light difuser to makes those pics less harsh

Very nice. I think it feels better in the hand too.

The difference between chrome and rubberized in the hand is minimal, but it looks better
Besided the colors, it looks clean without the fingerprints all the time
