    The Blackwing Slate notebooks???

If their paper is at least Moleskine level I may start getting them for my beater book, free Blackwing pencil too

I have one. Mine is the unlined/plain version. My first impression was that the paper was quite good quality; very smooth. So I tried a couple of fountain pens with them. Sadly the paper is not particularly fountain pen-friendly. IIRC the inks I tried were Diamine Classic Green and R & K Verdigris. Both feathered and bled through quite badly.

I love the design, how well made it is, and how securely it holds the pencil. As it's not a particularly cheap notebook I didn't want to waste it so I ended up using it as a sketchbook as I like most types of Blackwing pencils for sketching and they work well on the notebook paper, perhaps inevitably .
