You are welcome. The draft caught up with me five days before my college graduation ceremony. I had to swap my cap and gown for a helmet and rifle. It was the best trade I ever made. I am still writing stories about that time and all the outrageously funny things that happened. Like Tom Sawyer, "I wouldn't have missed it for three dollars."

Thank you for your service. I grew up with a magnolia tree my aunt planted for someone who did not come back in WWII. By the time I left home the little bush had grown into a tall tree, but I still remember it, its story, and my aunt. My uncle and grandfather served but returned safe.

After 21 years, I ended up ten years working for the VA, and now I am back working for the DoD overseas. You never really stop serving
My Dad was Army between WWI and WWII. He played baseball with their travelling team and worked as a medic on the off days. The Washington Senators picked him up when he was discharged.
He would say he took out tonsils and defended 2nd base for God and Country.
