    Default Some Blue Ink Swabs

Recently, I was looking for a particular swab of ink on a review I had done. Despite trawling through all of my ink review sheets, I couldn't find this particular one. It made me decide it's about time that I put loads of swabs together on one page, so that I could find them when I want them.

At the moment, I haven't re-swabbed them all again, because many of them were samples that I no longer have. Therefore, these current swabs have all been lifted from previous review sheets, and pasted into this one sheet. Just so that they are all together in one place.

In case it's of any use at all to anyone looking for a particular shade, I thought I would post this on here. So far, these are all blue, but I'm doing other colours.

Very nice collection. It's interesting that there are three Diamine Cornflower swabs, of which two are quite close in colour, but one quite different. Are these from different bottles of different batches? Is there an aging effect?

I noticed that and don't know why it is, unless one cotton bud was just more soaked, or it was the ink out of the cap. I have more than one bottle of Cornflower though. I will fix it so that there aren't 3 of the same ink anyway as there are some that I couldn't get in.

I've now edited one of the Cornflower swabs out and included Montblanc JFK instead.

    Very interesting.

I also note that you have Waterman Serenite Blue and Waterman Florida Blue of which my pens have drunk gallons. I know some folks contend they are different, for the life of me I see no difference (here, in my house with my eyes) and (in this case) believe they are indeed the same ink except the name and label change, and yet ... they look quite different in your swabs.

Perhaps your Florida Blue was older and some evaporated?

PS. Now want to try Cornflower. heh.

P.P.S. Amazing how ugly some of my favorite inks swab out. Swabs are one thing (and somehow still useful) and writting another. Look how ugly JFK looks in the swab.

If you want to know how these inks look if you knock the whole bottle over on your table just watch the Anderson Pens videos. heh.

I like Anderson pens but really, Kim, chill with the pipette action. Ain't no one going to use 6ml of ink to write H O T in real life.

Maybe sometimes a cotton bud is just more saturated with ink than others, so it produces a slightly different swab test? JFK was definitely a 'quite dry' swab? I can tell that because I can see the lines. A very wet swab doesn't produce similar lines.

    Niiiice! Thanks, Chrissy.

Which of the blueblues (neither leaning green nor red) do you think has the best shading?
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

You're welcome. For best shading out of those I would suggest Diamine Blue Velvet and maybe the old favourite PP Sapphire

Very nice - I don't currently have a blue in my collection and the Regency Blue looks very nice...

Nice to have the comparisons of one particular shade. I'll soon be starting yet another alphabetic reference book of my inks and recently bought some lovely NOS dip pen nibs just for that purpose.

This current swab sheet is a temporary stepping stone. I have printed sheets that I'm doing swabs onto, then I'm going to combine the two so that all of the swabs will all look as good.

So far I've been lifting these from review forms, and moving them into position on this form using Photoshop. I thought it would be easier than it is.

I've had another look around for blue inks that I had forgotten and come up with some more. These ones are all in the "royal blue" or darker shade, not going towards turquoise or sky blue. Just for "stub", I also re-swabbed Montblanc JFK.
