Crikey. This has made me realize that my edc has gravitated towards three lamy safaris, in there by dint of their reliability, and a pilot 78g, three mechanical pencils and a Parker 25 with a gel refill (that last for people who borrow your pen to write at your desk).

Here is my daily carry, since Fountain Pen Day. Sadly the Vacumatic dried out, and the 580's section neck cracked in the body since then.

It might be too many pens, but it's what I'm happy with.

Well, you'll have to realize I often carry several EDCs. It's just a moment in time; the pens will be swapped around shortly.
Fred, Are all of those pen cases Pelikan?

    What does EDC stand for?

I'm guessing that this is an EDC. The pen has been there since.... Halloween.

One single case is embossed Cross, but all the rest are Pelikan single, double and triple cases. I found Pelikan cases serve me (and my pens) best. My MO is to slip one, two or three triple pen cases filled with inked pens into the pockets of my briefcase or computer case. The double and single cases are used infrequently.

I don't know why I didn't immediately remember this photo.

This is my EDC. I bring this kit almost everywhere for me to do sketches with pens I just restored.
The pen case was a gift from a friend who love to work with leather and was a modified Palm Pilot case.

The pens of course are different each time. And the sample vial does a great job. I have so far had zero spills.

I normally swap off between a MB 146 and a Pelikan M805. Both have medium nibs. I do have a 146 B that is being reground as a OB/CI and I expect it will also be in heavy use when it shows up any day now. It's been a little over 7 weeks waiting for it but we did have Thanksgiving....

That is a very cool design. Which size notepad fits? Was the loop holding the vial serendipity or planned?

The notepad in the photo is Rhodia no.12, which I use for 90% of my sketches.

The loop on the sample vial is serendipitous, but it works amazingly well. If I were to change anything,
I'll just make the loop a tad bigger to hold the sample vial more "comfortably".

I was intrigued by the discussion here about EDC being young people speak. After a bit of research, I discovered that it originated not with millennials, but with the concealed hand gun community. It was later used for other daily carry items.

For a little while now, a Parker 51 Demi Aero and a Cross Century II. Lately joined by my most recent acquisition, a Merz + Krell Pelikan 120, which will stay inked while it gets used to being asked to write. Pens sometimes improve without intervention when they first go into use, or start up again after a long layoff.

My Conklin 4NL has been removed from the case for surprising me by being empty far too soon. I suspect the sac has lost flexibility and capacity, needing replacement. Oh, I don't like the risk of taking apart a pen when it has a favorite nib attached. Maybe I should use grease instead of shellac for easy disassembly!

Cool Re: FPGeeks, What pens are currently in your EDC?

Sadly, a fountain pen doesn't really satisfy my requirements of an EDC, so the Caran d'Ache 849 ballpoint is pretty much my go-to... and when I'm expecting extended excursions into the great outdoors or whereever, i'll pack a refill.

    At the moment...

    Pilot VP (Broad)
    Montblanc 145 (Medium Cursive Italic)
Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze (Extra Fine)

As they run dry I'll rotate in another pen. I always try to keep three inked at any given time. And since I don't own a lot of pens they all get to be an EDC pen at some point.

    The rest of them are...
    Lamy 2000 (Extra Fine)
Sailor Pro Gear 2 Realo (Medium Fine)
    Waterman Charleston (Broad Cursive Italic)
Franklin-Christoph Model 19 (Medium Cursive Italic)
Nakaya Neo Standard (Broad Cursive Italic)
    Wearever Pacemaker (Fine)
    GvFaber-Castell Ondoro (Medium)

I have a red/green thing going now because of Christmas (we celebrate all twelve days). I have a Pelikan leather three-pen case, containing a Montegrappa Veneziano Rosso and a Montegrappa Extra 1930 in bamboo black. In the middle is a Pelikan 800 series ballpoint with green stripes, to lend to those who don't have a pen to write with.
