Post Clearly it is condition, Junior

I'm new to this forum, so this is a bit of an experiment, to see what folks like. I will start slow and see where it goes.

These little Mid 1930's Plunger Fill "Truncated" Balance Juniors were only around for a year or two. Hard to find with this barrel clarity and clean trim.

I hunt celluloid pens with "Ink View" barrel sections. This is about as good as 80+ year old celluloid gets - I mean stays. The reason that it is so nice is that it is a bit of an assemblage. A broken nib and feed sidelined this pen before it saw much use. I was happy to swap in a new front end, and found that it still pulled a vacuum.

    Obligitory nib shot, of sorts.

In this shot I have pulled the plunger rod back, to allow a better view of the transparency and imprint.

Rather than write a book, I'll keep it short and see what others will ask, add or ignore altogether.

And let's hope it stays that clear (and uninked)! Nice pen - too bad Sheaffer didn't do this with many (any?) of the higher end pens. While it is not transparent to the naked eye, I was really shocked the first time I put an LED light on the other side of an Ebonized Pearl barrel and could see the spiral lines and plunger rod.

That's a nice looking pen, but I would want to write with it if I owned it.

    Oh and welcome to FPG.

Yes on the uninked! Sheaffer made a plunger fill version of this Grey Pearl in all sizes, i believe. Marine green "chunk" appears as a Wasp" Vacuum Fil", only. After that it is the Black, Ebonized Pearl and the striated colors.

The way I avoid the temptation is to have way more pens to write with than things to write!

    Thanks for the welcome!

That green flash of Abalone shell on the barrel of your plunger fill says it all, as they can so often end up "Brown shifted". I really like non White Dot, aesthetically, in that size.

    Good stuff

I have a WASP with big barrel, and also a vacuum-filler.
