Cool Re: single person from history you'd most relate to?

One of my favourites is Chiang Kai Shek

Ruthless, principled, and as a political strategist very deft; still capable of mistakes but one history should judge fairly favourably, I think.

However, the new custodians of power now want to delete him and his 'authoritarian' history...

Aristotle - Enduring happiness derives from discovering who you are, developing your unique talents, and putting those talents to work for the overall benefit of others as well as yourself.

Leonardo da Vince would be the person historically I think of. His artistic talents, his foresight, his observations and mental connections are what I tune into.

Alice in Wonderland, because I'm married to her.

It's an old post now, but I have been thinking about it the last few days. I find it difficult to select a single individual, but lately I have been thinking about Aristotelian understanding of the world, and I relate to it. I sort of pick out red herrings here and there, rather randomly, Schelling, Hegel, Jung... I wish I had an idea about the 19. century gestalt psycology, but my main interest has been Jung. It's the idea of spirit, something in hour mind or being that reaches out further than the individual.

Contrary to some so-called 'opinions', Mao wasn't all bad; he was certainly a great strategist.

I don't know too much about Mao, just the general history book stuff. There's always leaders and strong individuals, but we are all subject to ideas, thoughts, historical develpments. Sane or seemingly insane at times, we all react to something. Among the major currents at present time I can't see much in the way of communism, we are reacting to something, and I guess it shows in the current political leaderships. Which way does money flow?
