    Question De Atramentis Document Ink

Hello all - following up on my earlier post regarding these inks and the great color mixing tables provided by Jane Blundell - how do my fellow FP Geeks feel about these inks? There seems to be not a lot of talk about the De Atramentis Document series... maybe we can change that!
Just share your experiences to get the ball rolling.

Document Brown is my favourite drawing ink. It's waterproof for use with inkwash or watercolour and more subtle than black.
    It's all about the greys...

If you go to the link indicated in my other thread here https://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread...permanent-inks
you'll find that you can mix any color you like from these inks - various shades of purple for example can be obtained by mixing appropriate ratios of Document Blue and Document Magenta = Fuchsia; in addition there is also a Document Violet available which is a deep shade of purple as well

I haven’t tried these inks because the reviews I’ve read mention they exhibit excessive feathering. What has been your experience in this regard?

On some papers there is indeed a tendency to feather; Field Notes, Moleskine and - strangely enough - Rhodia Webnotebooks come to mind as well as some cheap college paper; perfect behaviour on regular Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Tomoe River, Fabriano and Nuuna; tolerable on Mead "five star"; takes forever to dry on Tomoe River, though. Rather wet inks - work really great in dry, fine nibs and well regulated stubs, as the ink seems not to spread much. Some form an outline on coated papers like Tomoe River and 80gsm white Rhodia. Little to no shading - these inks look rather flat on the paper (not at all like Sailor Sei Boku). But: they are really waterproof; nothing moves, unlike with most IG inks or Noodler's cellulose reactive inks, because the colored pigments themselves stick. That's as much as I could (preliminarily) establish in my trials.
P.S.: ...actually really good on Mead "five star" spiral bound college notebooks...

The Writing Desk seems to have them.

I rather went down the Super 5 ink road, so not tried these ones. Suspect the feathering reports probably put me off too.

Them's the ones. Although they appear to have reduced the bottle size and increased the price. Not sure they're that good...

I guess I'll find out for myself in a day or so, ordered a bottle of black before I saw this. Hope it doesn't feather too much on moleskine paper
