    Default Only one...

If you could only have one ink going forward (EEK! Runs screaming from the room) what would it be? I like a large number of inks, but I seem to be going to Pilot blue black as a baseline. Remeber only one. Why do you choose the one you do?

If I could only have ONE, it would be GvFC-Moss Green.

This question makes me anxious. I will have to sleep on it first before answering.

As I've stated before, many times, my only ink would always be Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black.
    Why?
Because it continues to do everything I want, ON everything I want and lasts as long as I want.

Only ink that stays in rotation all the time, so an easy and obvious choice - Platinum Carbon Black. Because occasionally I suffer from artistic delusions and get out the watercolours; it's the only ink that reliably stays absolutely put in the presence of a wash. And I often write postcards and Cornwall is damp, so it's handy there too. Plus I like it.

Downside to it is it would then restrict what pens I could use, so my not-so-potentially-pen-destroying option would be Pelikan 4001 Turquoise, which is a lovely ink, very reliable, easy to clean, and terribly underrated.

I haven’t tried many inks to point at one name, but for hue I’ll pick a light brown with golden shade.

If it will be the ink I’m stuck with for the rest of my life I want something neutral, understated, and flexible for various situations.
    But not the usual black.

If... I was forced to choose any one ink, i'd be inclined to go with GvFC Deep Sea Green; it is permanent-ish, is a good all-rounder in colour, and cleans out of pens with mind-blowing ease.

Ok, my current thought would be Diamine Chocolate Brown because it has flowed well in all of my pens and is dark enough to mean business I guess. But I like the idea of carbon black, too. Short of that, I might choose Aurora Black. I bet Chrissy is flabbergasted at why would ask such a question.

I think we have over 500 bottles of ink now, so choosing one is nigh on impossible. But up there would be Pen & Message “Writing Lab” Old Burgundy.

Sailor Sei Boku. I like it, it performs well, and it's waterproof. Not the easiest to clean, but with an ultrasonic and/or JB's not too hard.

Iroshizuku asa-gao. Very well behaved in every pen I have tried it, and fairly easy to clean.

There are a lot of inks I enjoy, but my favorite among favorites is still Pelikan Edelstein Topaz. It's a bright, happy blue with decent shading and I enjoy the light pink halo effect going on around the letters once it dries.

Pelikan Edelstein Topaz. As much as I rather like MB Toffee Brown, Tanzanite is a touch water resistant, and well behaved in the pens I've thrown at it and it is a deep blue black.
Inked: Lamy 2000 Macrolon EF (MB Toffee Brown); Platinum Balance F (Platinum Blue Black); Franklin Christoph 02 Smoke & Ice - M Stub (Aurora Black); Platinum Preppy M (Platinum Blue-Black); Platinum Plaisir Gunmetal EF (Platinum Brown); Pelikan Twist Bronze (Pelikan Royal Blue). Leaded: Palomino Blackwing 602; Lamy Scribble 0.7 (Ein Stein 2B); Uni Kuru Toga Roulette 0.5 (Uni Kuru Toga HB); Parker 51 0.9 (Pilot Neox HB)

De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes. It would cover all the bases (work, home, etc.) and would still have a cool picture on the bottle. I could imagine it was something other than blue black.

Pen & Message... need to stop. Or must start exporting - have you seen their 'Vermillion Lacquer Ware'?!

Yes, that is the ink more commonly called Shu-Urushi. I’ve had a bottle for 3 or 4 years now, and don’t anticipate buying another. So I treat myself to an occasional fill. It’s a beautiful colour.
