    Default Nib Repair Tools

So many pens arrive for repair with damaged nibs. For years I persevered with make-do nib-straightening arrangements but a couple of years ago I bit the bullet and bought Laurence Oldfield's (Penpractice) set of nib repair tools.

They have made my life a lot easier. They're not cheap - handmade tools never are but they have paid for themselves. They are a joy to look at as well, beautifully designed and executed.

They look like a great set of nib tools, but are too expensive for me: a complete beginner at any sort of nib work who only tinkers a bit.

It is probably impolitic of me to ogle a woman's burnishing tools. Nonetheless...

Steady, Jon! They are pretty sexy, I must admit. As well as their practicality which I depend on, they are just nice-looking little pieces of sculpture.

Wow, Deb. Thank you again for a very informative post.

I have read the book, but I had no idea about the tools on penpractice.com, and you're right, the tools themselves are neat metal sculptures. I am in awe of the inner-cap puller design.

The inner cap puller is a clever tool. I had one for a while but as I didn't have as much use for it as I had expected I sold it on.

Interesting tools - looks like you're doing more advanced nib-work than me, but thanks for sharing the pic -- maybe someday I'll need those

+1 for these tools - they helped me (rookie with restorations) to salvage some badly bent vintage nibs. Great quality tools!

    Very nice!
This set is on my short list. Can you tell what shipping was from England?
