Default What Is Your Dream Fountain Pen?

    Hello Everyone,

    My name is Taizo Okagaki.
I love fountain pen since I was in middle high school.
I have a store named Engeika in Japan and also own a brand named Wancher.

Today I want to ask you about Your Dream Fountain Pen.
What kind of pen makes you happy when you hold it in your hand?
Please let me know, it will help me a lot.
If it is ok, please take survey here:
    https://www.wancher.com/your-dream-fountain-pen

I am sorry that I could not speak English in the video, but my college helps me to make subtitle.
Thank you very much for your time!

    Tazio.

I'm not sure I have a dream pen but an example of what I find really nice are the pens from Eboya, simple lines, great ebonite, but most importantly superbly tuned nibs. They use generic Bock nib/feeds, not even ones with custom engraving, but they have all functioned flawlessly from the moment I first filled them right through several years of service.

Like Jar, I like Eboya pens using those lovely patterned Nikko ebonite rods.

If Wancher made one in the 100-200 USD price range without a nib, but with Tamenuri or Urushi lacquer coating that still shows the patterns, I'll buy one and put a gold flexible vintage nib on it

That would be one (of many) "dream fountain pen" designs for me.

    One more here.

Edit - I have just finished answering the survey. Wish you luck for the dream pen.

    Dear Eva,
Thank you very much for your reply. It is great idea. I will note about it. Later I will update you with the one I am currently researching.

Do you mean a body of the pen?
I also think about this option. Its is a nice idea, but if we can make a fountain pen, isn't it better?
Do you want to see the pen I am researching for?

For me personally, I don't need a nib because I have some in my collection that I can install myself.

But of course, you can't sell to others without a nib. So yes, please show us the pen you're researching.

    I see, I see.
How about a fountain pen which has a nib section very easy to open all the parts to clean and change to other type of nib?

My staffs put some update on our website:

And I also want to show you one of my prototype in the next collection:

    What do you think?

If you make a section and feed that is removable, wouldn't that increase the price because of the extra labor and tools?
Don't worry about people like me who likes to replace nibs (I am a vintage fountain pen restorer) most of your customers won't think like I do

I like the simplicity of the prototype, but I prefer flat-top or almost-flat-top. And are you going to use the color Nikko Ebonites such as this pen from Eboya?

Wow, your suggestion of colored Nikko Ebonite is great!

Actually I found the idea of removable section and feed is quite interesting as when you clean your pen you can clean thoroughly.
I think I can add it to my pen.

My favorite Eboyas are my Natusmes and Houjus. I like pens with pocket clips and avoid any without.

small Natsume in Shinai (I also have a medium in Tanshin):

    medium size Houju in Kunpuu:

and the fun one; a large Akebono Yatate:

I like Eboya pens because of their selection of color-patterned ebonite pens. But their price is too high for me.
If Wancher can use the same material, even polished without using any Urushi, these already looks very nice.

I think if you make the section threaded to the barrel, that's sufficient to make cleaning easier. Even vintage Japanese eye-dropper from the 1930's already perfected the threading technique, these pens don't leak from the section without using some silicone grease or o-rings.

A Nayaka pen from your fine country my friend. My Platinum 3776 Century is my favourite pen so this would be the perfect step up if I had thousands of dollars to spend as they are made by Platinum's master craftsmen. I have filled in your survey

Mine is the impossible dream: a pen that as far as I know was never produced. A Swan L470/62 or L470/64 with broad stub nib!

    Here's a L470/60 (60 = black) in company with a L300/64

    L300_64 L470_60.jpg

And here's a L245/62 - 62 is wine, green & silver, my favourite material - together with the 64 (brown amber)

An LB5 in "mineral brown" or a Sailor King of Pen Realo, of which very few were ever made, for one year, IIRC.

Got your email Tazio but no pocket clip = no interest. Not a dream rather a nightmare.

Sadly this is the worst of all worlds for me - derivative, cigar-shaped, clipless, C/C filler, with dreary Jowo nib. But looks like plenty of folks are interested, so not for the first time, I'm in the minority! Best of luck with it, Taizo.
