I suppose I was in an April 1st mood while looking at the generous number of bottles in my ink box, deciding which and what has to go. I was thinking how silly buying more ink can be with all the constant release of slightly different shades. I'll be dead before I use a quarter of my inks.

As for the article, Fermata has exposed me. It's all mine. The premise came from that old humorous story that, at the end of the 19th century, the US Patent Office was closing because everything that could be invented had been invented. I was aware of some of the cited errors (especially the spelling of "color") and disagree with others, but I had edited the story ad infinitum and it had to go to press. As for the surnames, they are Google-translated Latin: Bernard "hue and colors" and George "stain."

    Sorry.

    D'oh!

Need to get back to Blighty before this Septic loses all of his lexicological wordability.

The sad thing I think is that the Americans don't butcher our language half as much as some of the natives. I'm looking at you Newcastle. And don't even mention north of the border.

That's funny. The first thing that came to mind was the story about the US Patent Office.

And, to be fair, Diamine has 106 inks on their site in the standard line alone.

Ouch! I was educated north of the border, yet I am the person routinely asked to check documents for spelling and grammar.

Try telling that to Nathan Tardiff at Noodlers. It sounds like a flimsy excuse for cost cutting tbh. @rocketryan a bit unfair on the Scots no? Try listening to the estuary English around my area. I know what I prefer.

Sometimes when I watch TV and Scotsmen are talking, I need sub-titles.

My grandmother in law (NE Scotland fishing village) and I (military brat, so no fixed home, but mostly brought up in SW England) need a translator... Sometimes my wife still comes out with words / phrases to which I will simply respond, "What..?"

When the Cornish get going, especially the older generation, you've a chance of catching one word in every ten. In fairness they do make an effort for us poor incomers, but amongst themselves? It's bewildering, albeit fascinating. I love regional accents and colloquialisms. It's a tragedy how much of it is getting lost; can't remember the last time I was addressed as "my lover" by a total stranger.

I understand that the going rate is around $100, perhaps a bit cheaper in Cornwall.

M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
    A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
    A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
    A: Yes it is!
    M: No it isn't!

I found Majestic Blue is close enough to PPS, and to make it even closer you could always add a bit of Diamine Sapphire Blue.
As far as Montblanc Racing Green is concerned, if I didn't have some I would just as happily use Diamine Salamander or Classic Green or Sailor Tokiwa matsu.
I've never seen Sailor Red/Brown so can't comment on how similar any of the Diamine reddish/browns might be.
