Default Any pen, money is no issue...

I have a special birthday coming up this year and the wife has made me a one time fountain pen offer I can't refuse...

So, if money was no object (yeah right...) what is the ONE pen you would get?

I'm looking for inspiration, and possible ideas/direction I haven't thought of.
Plus, it's nice to know what peeps rate and think are great pens

If money was no object (and I bet my big birthday this year is older than yours) I would buy a Montblanc POA Copernicus.

If money were no issue, it would have to be a MB Skeleton!

That is super pretty, but gives me fountain in Scarface vibes. Actually no, it’s the Unisphere that I was thinking of.

I would get a Pelikan M800 and ask Shawn Newton (or another) to customise it with a celluloid (or wooden!) binde. Then I would buy a suite of nibs:
    • 14c Fine (flexy)
    • 18c Extra Fine (nail)
    • 18c Medium Stub
    • 18c Medium Arabic/Herbraic

    If looking vintage:

I would but the biggest, cleanest Parker Vacuumatic money could buy
Or a pristine, lovingly restored Waterman 100 year pen.
or one of the rarer, cleaner, Sheaffer Balance Premier pens.

if new maybe some fancy pants Urishi pen or one of those new Aurora pens with the 'flex' nib
or a limited M800 or a MB Hemingway or one of the larger Omas pens (before they are all gone).

Or see what Pilot does this year for their 100 year anniversary.

The wait is killing me. I already know of a store that has some limited edition Capless Decimos...

If money was no object, then probably a Hakase custom made pen, as the experience of having it made would be something to remember, as well as the pen itself.

The idea of a whole suite of nibs, though, that's also a nice one: in fact, I probably wouldn't get a new Pelikan, but would get the whole suite of nibs plus Mr Masuyama's good services for one of my M600s or M400s.

There's a part of me that would want seek out some stunning, legendary and super-rare pen like an Aurora Asterope in blue/gold/cream.
But I would probably be happier commissioning a custom pen. Right now I'm imagining a Soennecken 111 Superior replica in ebonite with unique urushi lacquer--a swirling base of vermilion and turquoise under delicate gold webbing, and, to maintain that wondrous reflective effect at the base of the nib, a small portion of the inside of the section in the same vermilion. An original flexible medium stub with lots of shading. An original clip with the underside and finial engraving lacquered in a bright iridescent turquoise. Conid's CAISO bulkfiller system. I better stop now before I literally begin to drool. :P
