His Nibs.com update -- Conklin & additions from China
August 11th, 2010

Greetings all,

So that those of us not going to the Washington, D.C. pen show this week
have something to do...after a long wait for stock, we're happy to announce
that the first Conklin model, since the brand was taken over by YAFA, has
finally arrived -- the Endura. We'll be adding the Crescent and the
Herringbone as soon as all colors are reliably in stock.

We're also happy to offer two models from the Taiwanese brand R. Pirre
Paul's, the Woods series and the Regal series. Both inexpensive, fun
writers.

Speaking of fun writers...the ever popular DUKE 962 series has added a
fourth member...the Black Pearl.

The new Conklin Endura series

Available as a fountain pen or ballpoint, the pens are based on the model
originally released in 1924. The new Endura has all the aesthetic design
features which made this pen such a timeless classic.

The Endura collection is made from a unique hand-turned, European-grade
resin specially designed for Conklin pens. The faceted 12-sided barrel is
hand-polished to brilliantly reflect shimmering light off of its surface,
enhancing the stunning colors of the three uniquely marbleized resins.

R. Pirre Paul's Woods series

Measuring 5-1/4" capped, 6" posted and 4-3/4" with cap held aside, these
slim pens have a bit of heft to them. Being natural wood, each barrel is
unique in appearance.

R. Pirre Paul's Regal series

Here's a terrific, little (as in slim) knock-around pen. Solid construction
for a resin pen, with a bit of style and a great price.

Available in six colors, the pen measures 5-1/4" capped, 6-1/8" posted and
4-3/8" with cap held aside. No matter the color of the cap and pen, each cap
bears an orange, angled ring just above the clip, which adds a nice visual
touch to the pen's design.

Most interesting about the 'business end' of the pen, is that the feed is
clear!

DUKE 962 Black Pearl

Joining its three sisters -- or brethren, depending upon your viewpoint --
the DUKE 962 series is joined by the Black Pearl.

This is the first understated finish for this great little writer. Unless
you consider snakeskin to be understated!

On the blog...Long live the Chevy Chevette!

My first car finally made it onto a Time magazine list! Unfortunately, it's
the 50 Worst Cars of All Time list.

Actually, we were a Chevette family. My father had a yellow one like that
pictured. I had a tan one. My mother had a powder blue one, which I
inherited after mine became a Flinstonemobile (the floor underneath the
pedals rusted out and went away in short order). Even my then-girlfriend
purchased one in turquoise (the relationship didn't last long...and the
Chevette might have been a contributing factor).
