    Default Parker 75 Bicentennial

I know this question is very subjective, but I just received one of these at a great price. Now my dilemma is if I should carry it to work with me in my shirt pocket and use it there. The prices for these are all over the place on ebay and I really don't have a good idea on if it is too rare and valuable to use as a daily carry.

I know it is no Omas, but what do you Parker people think? Ideas of a realistic value?

I wouldn't take it out of the house. But I don't bring a lot of my fountain pens out of the house. The only ones that leave are Kakunos, Sailor Clear Candy (though even some of those stay home if I really like the design), Metropolitans. I do take my Pilot VP out, but that's about it, unless I'm doing a meetup with another fp user (for show and tell).

Did you get the box and everything?! If yes, then no - don't risk... unless, you want to take the box out everytime too?

I didn't get the box but I did receive the felt holder. #4,083 out of 10,000. I have been looking on the web for just the box to complete the set, but nothing I can afford. I feel kind of guilty owning this beautiful pen and not using it. On the other hand, being a middle school history teacher, I am overjoyed to own part of our nation's history, even if it might be a gimmick to sell a fountain pen.

I have never owned a pen worth more than $100. I really got lucky on this find. I know there are much more expensive pens out there. Curious what others would do. Use it at home only? Put it on show at home, but don't use?

Any thoughts on getting the box other than just keep looking on the web? I did see that Parker also sold the pen with a pewter box.

    Cool Re: Parker 75 Bicentennial

What is your instinct/feeling - keep at home or "have nice pen, will travel"?

I'm sure I remember my Latin teacher had a 'gold' Parker 51... but then again, since all I was allowed were Parker 25s or Platignums, I may have been bamboozled by a cheap alloy pen, who knows? I distinctly remember the red ink and tiny writing that used to liberally emend my attempts at Latin... ("I bet *he* uses a Japanese UEF nib"...)

but to be honest, I'd say probably this pen is best at home. Shirt pockets are never the safest place for a pen and this one is a bit special. I'd use it at home, when I wanted to do some nice writing, some journalling or a letter or just some fun doodling. And make sure you buy it a nice ink.

    Great post.

    Read with interest.

They were sold with two different boxes.

With box in mint condition - $1500

Mint without the either type of box possibly $700-800

Used unboxed in very condition - $ 500

What did you pay for it?

It is always a dilemma - deciding if you are a collector or just a pen user.

Have a number of NOS pens - very rare P61' & P51's uninked.
I do have rare NOS P75 too - not your your pen though.

Decided long ago I was a collector.

Mainly write with a modern Sonnet which is laughable given my collection.

I would be very interested to know if anyone here has actually paid alot of money for a very rare NOS pen then used it

Well, I got it through Craigslist for a steal. The original owner, but he said he didn't remember getting a box with it. I received this pen, a first model 75 ciesel with the flat tassies and 0 ring. An awesome turquoise 61 with a Heritage gold and silver rainbow cap, a lustraloy blue diamond, cedar blue 51 vacumatic. A 51 pencil and a jotter mini pencil and a older style jotter pen. The older man who sold it to me was great to work with. I bought everything for $200.

You left out one of my favorites from this lot purchase, the Heritage 61. Here is a picture. 20180210_091307~2.jpg

I like your Parker 61 alot

Parker call the colour Vista Blue ( Parker colour code 35 )

Most call these pens HEIRLOOM 's because that is what they chalk marked them as.

Never seen a P and shield above the 61 on a cap before - I am quessing it has MADE IN THE USA printed on it
Can you tell me what is printed on the shield above this - the Rolled Gold / Gold Fill hallmark please.

There is nothing in the shield above the 61, just a P above it. I tried to get a closer look under a loupe. Thanks for catching my usage of Heritage instead of Heirloom. I was confused by the wording on Richard's pens site. http://www.richardspens.com/index_m....ll/00_coll.htm

Also, you correctly made out that it is a Vista blue and not turquoise. Binder's site says this as well. It is made in USA.

Thank you for your photograph - it meant alot to me.

    Never seen that imprint before.

The box for your pen - some photography added

An interesting P61 pen for your consideration.
    Made by Aspreys of London
And a Parker 75 - Made by Boucheron of Paris.

Few know these pens were made.

Back to your total pen's value - about $1500 would be right

Beautiful 61. I wish I could find the pewter box or mahagony box for my 75.
