    Default Used 146

I just received an MB 146 that I bought from a member at "the other" forum. It is slightly smaller than the 146 I bought new from FPH a year ago. It has a solid clear ink window, and the clip band says Germany, with no serial #. The piston threads are resin, not brass, and the caps are not interchangeable between the two. I am assuming this is not a counterfeit, the size difference just stuck out to me. What do the experts here have to say?

Dimensions, threads, ink windows, and piston mechanisms of the resin pens vary over the years. None of the details you provided confirm it is or is not authentic.

Thanks Fred, what would confirm it either way? It feels "right" in hand, with a smooth mono color fine nib with a touch of flex...

Most of the fakes are of newer models.

Close-up in-focus photos of various aspects would confirm it. "Feel" in the hand is totally subjective but IMHO would go a long way towards a determination. Alas, my hand is a long way from your pen.

If it has a monotone nib, old style feeder, and correct Montblanc piston filling mechanism with black piston threads then it's likely to be authentic. They are shorter than the current model and the caps weren't interchangeable.
