Lamy Safari or AL-Star because
1. You don't know what nib size you'll end up liking, and replacement nibs are $10. They just slide on and off. Start with EF (which is not all that fine), get F, M, or 1.1 stub later. Personally I really like EF and 1.1.
2. Click-off cap.
3. Converter is $5.

3776 Century is certainly a nicer pen but a pricey way to experiment with nib size. I have a SF and wish I had bought a M instead.
