Default Even more shades of grey

Here are a few more of my 'greys'.

Some of these are a bit more unusual. For example I've include Noodler's Blue Upon the Plains of Abraham. When freshly dry, as here, it looks blue, but every sample I've done has eventually faded to a lighter, more neutral grey. And a sample of Organics Studio's original Blue Merle (2014) is shown. It used to be a delightful blue-grey, but the colour has now sadly deteriorated to a sludgy grey. I still use it though!
Oster's Purple Rock looks very purple on this Bristol white card, but on other papers, like Tomoegawa, it is much more grey. The chameleon-like Vortex Motion is also here - I still can't pin down this colour. It's fascinating.

Question Re: Even more shades of grey

Are they really grey though? I see blues, pinks, and greens...

Definitely greys in my view. They are distinctly different to the inks in my ‘coloured’ ink swatch sections. If you put them next to coloured inkse.g. Kobe 10 next to a true dusty purple, the difference is quite marked. When you put greys together it seems to exaggerate the difference in base tones more than other colour groups. Yes, some are unusual greys but as I said, they often change colour over time as they properly dry. These are fresh samples.

Over time, I’ve refined my ink colour albums and I have them grouped as my eyes perceive them. Other people would order the colours differently I’m sure. The differences in some cases are small. We all see colours differently, and this is exacerbated with online images.

    You're most welcome.

It's so cold outside that I've stayed indoors today just playing with inks. What could be more fun?

Migo, thanks for both of these great posts. I've been on a grey kick myself lately and this is a great help. You might check out Faber Castell's Stone Grey (great shading ink, true grey - not unlike Kiri Same, maybe) and Montblanc's Permanent Grey (tougher to find at this point but worth it).
