Pen tray inserts?
Good afternoon,
Anyone know of any local places that sell pen inserts for cut to fit applications? Or perhaps how to make them, or something similar.
I’ve got a few cigar boxes to try and home my growing collection in.
All info appreciated?

Re: Pen tray inserts?
After searching for inserts for quite some time with little success, I just make my own using heavy paper or card and felt if required. Cut to depth of tray and concertina fold the card at a measurement that suits. Folds every 30mm works well. Felt can be added if required.

Re: Pen tray inserts?
Depends how nice you want'em.
For my cheaper pens, I just get a piece of card cut to about twice the length of the box, score it (remembering to score even numbered folds on one side, turn over and score the odd numbered folds on the other side) and then fold it. I use a gorgeous century-old bone folder I got at a flea market... but you can use the back of your thumbnail, it does the same job :-) Then pop it in the box, do a bit of titivating till the folds are evenly distributed, and pop your pens in. The weight of the pens will hold it down, or you can run a couple of lines of glue along the bottom of the box or tray to keep it in shape.
For a more luxurious version and to hold my more expensive pens I use felt or other fabric glued to a cardboard backing that I've scored previously. I usually fold the fabric over at the edges to give it a good finish. If you've got some old curtain material or furnishing fabric you can make a really stylish and unusual tray.
You can also make your pen slots by gluing dowels down to the tray or box, and then laying fabric over the dowels. That's okay, but I don't think it holds the pens quite as securely, and it's also difficult to get a good finish at the top and bottom of the slots.
I hope this helps - if you do decide to make your own pen trays, let us see how it turns out!

Re: Pen tray inserts?
I 3D printed mine and then covered them with fabric.

Re: Pen tray inserts?
Other readily available inserts are available from https://www.pendorapens.com/collecti...-liner-inserts
I have these and gopen's inserts and each do their job as expected.
pendorapens' inserts can handle the widest pens in my collection. gopen's are designed for narrower vintage pens. A Pelikan M400 fits nicely, M600 is a little snug, and an M800 is pushing it. Thus I use gopen for narrow pens so I can get more in a drawer and pendorapen otherwise.
