    Default Pelikan Blue Black

Why is Pelikan Blue Black not available from US/EU shops? I had to order from a Japanese shop, and it has been over a month, and the bottle has still not been delivered. Any ideas why it is unavailable, and why it would take over a month to receive here in WV?

A lot has been written about Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black ink. It contains a substance that is not listed in the US Toxic Substances control act.

Read all about it on The Pelikan's Perch

A Google search will bring up lot's more articles about it.

Seitz-Global sells it on Amazon.com and that's European.

What about UK sellers/distributors? Pelikan/Niche Pens, The Writing Desk and Cult Pens, to name but three, all stock this wonderful ink. Possibly not necessarily strictly EU per se, but the UK will do for me!

Yes they will do nicely for me too, but stevekolt asked about buying it from either US or EU shops. As Amazon.com has a Seitz-Global listing, I thought it worth mentioning. Our UK retailers might charge more in shipping than Amazon.

Why not buy a bottle of black, a bottle of blue and make your own?
Thats what I have been doing for years and my pens, feeds, filling systems have never had any issues.
I might recommend Sheaffer Blue-Black as well......

Yes, I know he did but the cost of shipping wasn't mentioned in the original as an issue; just the question about the delivery timescale.

Contact Denizzz on this site. I bought some of that ink from him. BTW a seller I trust.

Finally got my bottle yesterday. Should last a bit as the ink for my Visconti HS midi with a fine nib. Thanks for all the responses/info.

I don't understand the attention this ink receives based on this:

I love Pelikan Blue-Black, it perform exceptional well, is an quite dry ink and contain a small potion of iron gall, is therefore per definition an iron gall ink.
So mixing black and blue will not do the trick.
Tanzanite is not an iron gall ink, much more expensive and can’t compete performance wise with Blue-Black on poor paper.

If you like the color of Tanzanite more then this is an other topic.
Colorwise they are imo very similar, your Blue-Black swap looks really really grey on my screen.

Blue-Black you can buy in Europe (at least Austria and Germany) really cheap on nearly every corner (where ink is sold) so it is very common.
