Default 20 Pen box from a $13 shadow box

I was looking for a cheep pen box for my pens. I was a Hobby Lobby and picked up a wood 8"x10" shadow box with a nice hinged glass lid. I was able to fit two layers of trays in the box for a total of 20 pens. I modeled and printed the trays on my 3D printer and then covered them with fabric. I also tried stick on felt. I think the fabric worked better.

On this one with the felt I left the thin row on the end uncovered. It's meant for converters and cartridges.

After filling the box I decided to make a second box that will also hold 20 pens. I am printing trays to fit is right now.
This box also cost me $13

I printed the bottom tray for the comic box last night. I have not added the fabric cover yet. That box will actually hold 20 pens, 10 per tray.

I finished the comic book box today. I decided to fill it with my vintage pens, the pens I made, and some non-fp's.
I was a fun project that came out nice and also only cost me $13 for the box and materials I already had.

Nice work! What 3D printer do you have? The size of your trays indicates that your printer has a fairly large capacity.

    Lulzbot Taz4 upgraded to a 5 printer. The print bed is large at 280mm x 280mm x 250mm (11.02"x11.02"x9.8")
The trays for the larger box ended up being 251x200x20mm, and for the smaller one 216x146x20mm.

It's a nice printer and I have switched it over to using 1.75mm filament. The smaller size filament is more available in more materials.
I think for my next project maybe I will create the box with the tray built in.

How long does it take to print a tray like the ones you've shown here?
