Lamy 2000 "F" Makralon. Love the pen, more than I imagined.

This came in today (info after the pic):

    Targa_1005.jpg

That was the only look I had, and honestly, I thought it was one of the polished chrome models. It shows up and is a Model 1005, 23-carat gold plated Targa, with the usual 14k gold nib. Looks like this (not my pic, from SheafferTarga.com):

The only thing missing at all were the two factory blue cartridges, which appear to be the only thing ever used in the pen. It had less wear on it than most NOS pens from the era that just sat around. The convertor appears to have never been used. A prime example, and beyond reasonable in price. This will live well with the rest of the Targa clan!

    I like Targas.

Tomorrow I'm expecting another 51 aero (why do I keep buying these?), but as of today, my latest pen acquisition is from last week, a Sheaffer 84C. This is the same length as the "oversize" flat-tops (8C) but slightly narrower. I actually thought it was an 8C when I bid on it, and I was attracted to it because there was no brassing. It turned out, however, to be extremely difficult to get the grip section off. I had begun to wonder whether it had been restored in the 1940's and glued shut with nail polish or something, but after several days of trying 2 or 3 times each day to remove it, it gave in. Turns out it was just tight.

My Romillo Eo #9 which came Monday night! I picked the terracotta ebonite with a 1.0 stub. The lentil roll-stop is solid 18k gold. It's indisputably the best writing pen I own. The hand-engraved nib has to be one of the most elegant and beautiful nib designs there is.

Thank you! It's a huge nib! It's just over an inch from the base of the nib to the tip of the point. When ordering I thought it would be a letter-writing pen, hence the stub. It feels so good in the hand, though, and is also hardy and rustic enough that it could be a daily writer. I kind of wish I had gotten a fine nib instead. I suppose I could always get it reground later on.

I've never seen a Romillo in person, but they are mightily impressive pens, especially since they espouse a rather minimalist style. I would very much love to see, hold, and write with one some day. Congratulations!

Haha, a brisk 12 months later I'll have the daily writer of my dreams!

Thank you, Jon Szanto! They have a lot of bronze in them which makes it seem heavier than it looks. But not too heavy (at least, in my opinion). The website lists the Eo model as being 37 grams, which is the heaviest one. And the other models being around 25-30 mostly. The nib writes very smooth, but not slippery smooth. There's some definite feedback. When you order, you're asked if you want the semi-flexible or rigid option. I chose rigid but it's definitely still springy. The semi-flexible option must be very soft.

One of a number of old things acquired recently: a delightful miniature Swan SF130 (a "C" I suppose).

Very lucky with the nib which is fabulous.

Pelikan 140 in Black with green ink window (50s) and 14K Broad
Cursive italic, writes EF across, not a screw-in nib unit, friction fit with the feed that stops when the nib is out enough.
    Currently inked with Diamine Oxblood

Pelikan M400 (Old-Style) in Brown Tortoise and 14K Medium
Slight custom ground cursive italic, does roughly over F across.
    Currently Inked with Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo

Pelikan 400NN (1956) in striped green with 14K EF Flex
The nib unit isn't metal, it's a hard rubber collar.
    Currently inked with R&K Salix.

Call it serendipity, call it an illness, call it compensating for egregious forum dramahs... I ended up being the only bidder on a (essentially) new Sailor 1911 mid-size, for a massively reasonable price. I'm just guessing this means I need a hole in my head, as well.
