That really is wonderful looking, I especially like the understatement of the roll stop. Is that some of the Conway-Stewart material? Whatever, that is really elegant. She is going on my short list for later in the year.

No, I couldn't find a single material I liked. So she had Jonathon Brooks *custom make* material that I described to him. Seriously this pen is so custom it's crazy. Cannot wait to write up the review! But it'll have to wait until tomorrow we've got company coming tonight, drat.

Brahmam ebonite pen; an Indian manufacturer that had so far been missing from my collection, and that I was very happy to find on French ebay. I particularly like the bold ebonite swirl.

I have been busy the last few weeks.

Always wanted to get some nice pens, always postponed it because there were more knives to buy (I'm a knife collector )

So when I came accross the William Henry F8-5 Cabernet pen in an online knife-shop, I couldn't resist and pulled the trigger. (even though it is overpriced) And while I was at it, I decided to purchase the other 2 pens I wanted to try for a long time! Those were the Pelikan "Souverän" (I went with the M600 size), and the Montblanc "Meisterstück" (I decided on the 145 size)

    Here's some pictures!

All three have Medium nibs, the Montblanc & the Pelikan 14K gold, the William-Henry has an 18K gold nib.

Really like all three of them. Best quality for the money is the Pelikan (which was the cheapest of the 3)

    Kind regards,

    Jos

A lovely pen; I have fancied a Meteor for some time - I love the French tradition of having the barrel threads "proud" of the surface so often seen on classic French made pens.

Yet another ancient Onoto and like so many of them, with a wonderful nib. This one proved to be a trouble-free rebuild.

Just today, I received two Jinhaos and an ink from Goulet: J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage. So far, so good, though these Jinhaos are heavy!

After a few hours of google and reading I concluded (I am probably wrong as even "Zhivago" could not verify either)
    That I now own a:

Sheaffer Triumph Statesman II in Carmine.

Dated Between (1945 - 1947) With a Triumph Lifetime Nib and Vac-Fill / Plunger Filling System.
White Dot Located at the tip of the cap.
I was told it was a Statesman II by an ebay seller who seemed to know his stuff. He seemed confident on it being a SM2.

Have you managed to cure the bad starting and skipping problems with this pen that you posted about on the other forum? In my experience Pelikan Edelsteins are very dry inks, and that could be exacerbating the problems you've been having.

Indeed I have. I decided to undertake the onerous journey back to the shop and ask for an exchange. As I had only purchased it yesterday, they were happy to oblige. The replacement is completely trouble free I am happy to report. It was worth the trip. It just goes to show that these "tricky" falcon nibs suffer from quality control issues. This new one starts immediately and doesn't skip at all. I can't wait to get back to Dubai and put some Diamine, J Herbin et. al. in it.
