Sheaffer vacuum fill deskpen and base in black. Triumph nib. Amazingly, it works.

I seem drawn to desk pens lately. Unfortunately, I don't have enough desks.

Nice colour, well made and it's good to use. Didn't cost a lot either.

Lamy Safari Dark Lilac Special Edition with fine nib. Also managed to get a bottle of the matching Dark Lilac ink. Very nice.

I have a soft spot for British pens. So this one came: A Burnham No.54.
I've never seen a material like this one, it's a very elegant grey with swirls that ranges from pearl blue to golden.
The nib is a Burnham 14ct Medium. Reminds me of a Sheaffer nib when writing with it.

    Love. It.

I use a budget, especially since my job doesn't pay me in the summer. So I budgeted for trim around my doors this summer. I want baseboard and was so excited about how the doors turned out that I wanted to start on the baseboard. Trouble was, it wasn't in the budget. No problem, raid the "fun" budget. But, no, I had already bought a pen with the "fun" budget. My rules have kept me out of financial trouble, so I won't break them. I was a little depressed about the baseboard. However, the pen is helping me feel better.

The pen caught my eye because it was Platinum's Kin-gyo celluloid pen. I had never considered the pen before because it was out of my price range. Then I saw it on Amazon for a price that was very close to the regular 3776 pens. I couldn't resist and had the money. I started on the trim in the meanwhile. But, I have to say the pen makes me happy, and the trim around the doors makes me happy, so I'll just wait and recharge that part of my budget before I do baseboard. And, that was my original plan anyway!

By the way: there was no sun today for getting good photos. But, I really needed the rain here, so I'll get the good photos some other time.

    Here is the beauty:

There is a seam in the celluloid. I want to do some research to learn why it's there.

It is a broad nib. It's an amazing nib and I love it: wet, enough feedback, and awesome.

It's a little shorter than the regular Platinum 3776.

And it joins my "family" of Platinum pens. And, to think it all started with a medium Shoji that I hated. Happily, my opinion of this model has changed and I love the 3776,

Congrats, that is a beauty. If I recall correctly the seam is there because it's made from a sheet of celluloid and not a turned blank.

Gosh, between that Burnham and the 3776, what a festival of gorgeous celluloids! That's one 3776 I haven't got, but lust after...

That Platinum really looks like a Koi fish. Gorgeous.
The seam would bug me a bit, but not much.

I have a couple recent purchases that need time to do proper photos. I had to do the following to post elsewhere to ask some questions so I thought I'd share. Finally replacing a Wahl ringtop I sold a couple years ago, I've just been patient. Last week this sweet thing came up and seemed right. Upon receipt I was pleased to have no bad surprises.

This is a Wahl 436, ~1921 (I believe) with a lovely 14k #3 nib. Just dipping it writes nicely with no adjustment. Just a little bit of restoration and this will be a fine example pen of the period.

And it was less expensive than a bottle of BungBox ink.
