Another Parker Challenger in stunning cosmetic condition (the innards are a different story, which is what I'm working on) and A 5.25 inch Sheaffer Balance Signature older model with lever-filler.

Finally: my 'holy grail' is on its way to me. A Mabie Todd Swan L245/62, even prettier than the lovely L205/47 I have just sold. If the nib on the '62 is half as good as that of the '47 I shall be content.

    Here's a seller's snap of the L245/62, followed by a picture of the late-lamented L205/47

    I know, it's not a pen.
But I'm planning to make pen parts with it and if the stars (and the ducks) lined up, pens.

Y'know, I was this close to buy one of this model at the Dallas Pen Show, but they didn't have this type of green. This pen looks hollow and unsubstantial in clear acrylic, but this green one looks so much better.

An update on my recent Swan arrival. Unfortunately it did not have my ideal nib, but happily I had a suitable one. So after a bit of a clean up, sac &c., here's the result. I am pleased with it.

Last weekend I ordered a Platinum 3776 Century in Bourgogne with a B nib. It's part of my Christmas from my wife. Now if it will arrive before Christmas. (Amazon purchase - Japanese seller) The estimate given is between December 13 and January 9.

I shockingly won both of these on eBay from a reputable dealer for around $175/each. Still can't believe it.

After 35 years of collecting I finally picked up my first Platinum (just never had any interest in them) as I could not resist this color / translucence. I am literally taken aback by its beauty as well as performance! For a FP well under $100.00 it is fantastic!

The joy of this is that this has introduced me to a new genre of fountain pens. Japanese pens that don't rip your pocket off trying to pay for them! I do own a Nakaya, but it is a rather high end instrument, but with this introduction to a less expensive origin I am looking forward to adding a few more to my collection.

I found this old black pelikan 400 NN at a fleamarket yesterday, and it looked good when i got it cleaned up, even the piston seal was fine , it also writes very nice and smoothly (M size nib).

As something of a Frankenpen enthusiast I have a sneaking admiration for those brave enough to put a tatty example up on ebay. I am very pleased to have bought the one pictured below: a very scruffy (and rare) Swan L645/60 - the forerunner of the famous 2060. No Swan 6 nib of course (and no clip either plus a missing cap band). What swung it for me was the rare - and asit turns out lovely Onoto No 4 nib. The picture shows a simple dip test.
