A MB 149 from the early fifties with a ski-slope feed, a pen i have been wanting for a long time.

A couple of "new" Swans: one English, the other American.
First a rather rare early Leverless: a L600/60 with an uncommon No 6 "keyhole" nib.

And from the USA, a "lapis" 242/52 with a great nib:

Something very rare this time: an "Alabaster" Swan. This material was given the number 74 by Mabie Todd. My pen is un-numbered - nothing remotely unusual in that!3174.jpg

Cob, those #50 Maxima nibs are fantastic! Are you sure you should be selling it!!
Hullo there.
Well needs must you know! It is a terrific nib I admit; I can only produce half-decent handwriting with a stub, stub italic or stub oblique. I love the classic full flex nibs found on many Swans and sometimes on old Waterman's pens, but my hand is not good enough to make a decent job of writing with them.
And there are pens that I shall not sell, such as this one!

Ebay find. Someone apparently found this at an estate sale in old, beat up, non-working condition. I had to remove the solid, petrified ink sac, but after cleaning it up and installing a new sac it appears to work. I may need to disassemble and reassemble the nib and feed though. On occasion I get ink drips / drops on the page.

Here's a couple of recent ones'
First a really nice New York Waterman's 52V, with gold band and New York nib. It is awaiting a lever box that I have to source.

Next up a nice Swan Safety Screw Cap No 3 eyedropper from about 1920. Lovely flexible MT New York stub nib.

They certainly knew how to make nibs in New York!

A recent antique mall expedition unearthed many writing relics of the past, two of which I took back to further accelerate the alarming growth rate of my neophyte collection.
The first I saw was this lightly used Sheaffer Skripsert in it's original box.
Nothing special, I know, but I confess I fell for the graceful upturn of the elegant nib on these models at first sight.
Finding one in it's box in decent shape for the price of a Metro required neither thought nor hesitation.
An ultrasonic bath made quick work of the solidified ink encrusting the feed, though it could use flushing if I can find the right tool. Meanwhile, it provides an most enjoyable feel while writing.
Searching another booth uncovered this "51" with 12k G.F. cap which joined the Skripsert.
Sadly the nib had seen abuse and the pen's age was all too apparent in the haze of scuffing afflicting every surface, the brassing on the clip, and the ink residue coloring it's sac and nib.
An initial ultrasonic bath and flush eliminated most of the long-dried ink, and it happily and eagerly started laying down ink -- a bit much as posted in the Parker forum.
Successful adjustment of the surprisingly flexy gold nib improved it's feel considerably and the instrument is now undergoing a 24 hour soak with periodic flushing, attesting to how much ink can still remain despite my best efforts.
Starting the day with five pens and ending with seven just would not do.
Shortly after arriving home, two more pens were delivered in the mail, both Parker 45s: a new old stock desk pen from Five Star Pens and a plain old pocket pen.
The latter, with an extra fine nib, had no trouble starting up after flushing but may need some additional effort to flow to my satisfaction. Cosmetically it is in far better condition than I hoped for.
And with that my collection nearly doubled overnight. Maybe it is time to slow down a bit...

Super super happy! I so nearly missed this weekend's star find - one of my grail pens, a Man 100 briar. The cap is broken, but the nib is superb. Now I need to think about how to repair the cap where the wood has cracked right across. Still, with change from 20 euros buying that AND a Bayard Excelsior, I am just delighted with my find.
Update on the Waterman's 52V. It now has a lever box and a sac. and writes nicely. Ink in this sample is Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin.Warterman's NY 52V.jpg

Apologies for the poor handwriting and photography. Art is not a strong suit for me.
