This Parker "21" arrived yesterday. It is a gusher with Quink but is beautiful with Pelikan 4001 -- just like a now deceased Hero 6?? pen I had. Except it feels solid, not chintzy. The fine nib just floats across the page effortlessly with a satisfying sound.

Not precisely *the* latest, but recent: I purchased this custom pen from Nivardo of Peyton Street Pens at the SF Pen Show. I had seen it in a preview photo and really liked the acrylic. He and Teri have recently started into turning their own pens (and making their own acrylics, of which this is not one) and Nivardo has also become a very good nibsmith. Not shown is a nice CI done on a Jowo #6. Very pleasing, well-balanced pen, and unique - it's a one-off.

This nice little Parker 180 in a barleycorn surface. The flow is a bit dry so I may have to call on a nib fettler to tackle it.Parker03r20.JPG

They were a present from my daughter, and now live permanently on my desk. I think the owl has a rather resigned expression, saying " Another pen?"
Incidentally, the pen came from Signatures, a pen shop ( yes, a real one) in York. They have a decent stock of new pens and a few vintage pens, mostly Parkers which are well priced. I thought that £58 for this 180 was pretty good. If you're anywhere near York, do go.

I finally got a sac for my new 1926 Parker Black-tipped Jade, installed it last night, reassembled the pen this morning, and am now testing with Quink.

This model is basically a Duofold in Jade Permanite that wasn't marked Duofold.

The nib is subtly italic like the one on my Balance Junior but firmer and, with minor adjustments, glides effortlessly across the page. So satisfying.

I love the feel of the section's comfortable diameter. The distance to nib helps my poor penmanship.

The pen is compact but not too short to use unposted, while fhe cap is light enough to post without significant change in balance.

Last acquisition was at last week's Pelikan Hubs. Came home with four bottles of Edelstein ink. Two Olivine and one each of Aventurine and Sapphire.

Sheaffer green striped balance, no cap, 14k nib
no-name French grey celluloid (no nib)
and a Waterman Forum in yellow and black - I think I now have about 30 in different colourways! the metal Forum is one I got last weekend.

This probably won't be of interest to anyone but here goes. [apologies for the atrocious photography]

Just arrived today. This custom made pen is an homage to the Sailor KoP, with slightly altered dimensions (the section is a little longer).

The material is Conway Stewart Dartmoor acrylic. This has a resonance for me for two reasons: one, I grew up in the City of Plymouth (UK) where Conway Stewart had their factory, and two, Dartmoor National Park (just a handful of miles north of the city) - the inspiration for this acrylic - is 365 square miles of outstanding natural beauty, littered with more Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements than any other place in the UK.

The place is also the home to countless myths and legends and the folklore runs deep. Even today, half way around the world, the mere mention of the exploits of the Dewer and his Hounds can raise the hairs on my arms. Some bonds are really strong!

    Well, here is the pen.

    And here are the specifications:

    Length closed - 156 mm
Length open including nib - 143 mm
Length of body excluding nib - 119 mm
Length of section - 22 mm
Diameter of section - 14 mm

The pen will post but really there is no need to do so.

The filling system is a convertor or as an eyedropper.

Currently it is fitted with a standard Jowo #6 fine nib, but I will almost certainly replace this with a gold nib, though haven't decided on what grind or from whom to buy.

My initial impression of the pen, on literally just unpacking it, was how near perfect in size it is for my hand. Then again, it was designed to be.

And now for something about the maker. This was created by Pat at SomethingWritePens who is an absolute gentleman and real joy to work with. When you commission a pen from Pat you get the usual discussion to start with, and then you get an email with engineering drawings of your concept for approval or alteration. Once all is ready to go Pat hits the lathe and a short time later you have a wonderful pen!

I cannot recommend Pat highly enough, and I think that he may fly under the radar somewhat in the world of custom pen makers.
