    Hello d3cadent,

    In a word, quality.

The box is very smart & fancy, but to me that's the least important part.

As soon as I handled the pen, I thought of the Mercedes Benz cars from the 1950s, I think they are called "ponton" or similar. Built to last for ever. Heavy in the hand, and lovely and smooth. The engraved lines are beautifully done.

The threads of the cap and barrel have a silky feel, more than with other good metal pens, really impressive.

The 2-tone 18K nib is a good size, engraved with the Otto Hutt logo. I have only written a few lines, but from my limited experience so far, the writing quality lives up to the rest of the pen.

Having the pen individually numbered is impressive.

So far, the only minor gripes are that the silver looks like it is an overlay, you can see another colour of metal at each end of the cap & barrel. And it is c/c filling, not piston as I prefer.

Overall, a really nice pen. Recommended if you want an silver pen that exudes understated luxury.

    I hope that helps.

Well, I can't in good conscience flip a lemon, so I don't know.
Rather depends if it's a personal lemon or a global one - what's wrong with it?

My latest assorted lot has thrown up a Wyvern 60, currently unidentified Swan, and a Sheaffer Mk1 Imperial that I suspect is going to cause no end of head scratching. I should stop being a cheapskate and buy some proper pens, no doubt. Happy days.

Well, of course. But this is rather a small one, not to say a cygnet.

Even the small ones with the #1 nibs are gems, in my opinion. I hope you will enjoy it.

Wyvern had a habit of re-using a number for different pens, so a 60 might be either a modest open-nib pen or a semi-hooded one. They generally write well.

    Very nice!

I, on the other hand, have no money to buy pens (or to put it another way, I'm cheap). Was looking for something for red ink duties. Ended up with a Wing Sung 698 for the princely sum of $20.

Arrived today and promptly filled with Robert Oster Fire Engine Red (I didn't even flush it first).

Of course as a demonstrator the ink goes everywhere in the section.

And that nifty clear feed turns a fetching cherry colour.

The pen is a remarkably nice writer, with the merest hint of feedback on Rhodia paper. This was a good recommendation from responders on a thread about red ink. Cheers people!

A mont blanc starwalker with rose gold trim, a gift from my father, considering he didn't know when my birthday was until I was 35, I was very surprised. A very pleasant writer.

Armando Simoni Club. Pavarotti 3 in Arco Verde. An Ogiva with the music nib. Haven't inked her up yet, but sure is a gorgeous thing.

I recently received a Visconti HS Elegance... waiting patiently in transit:

    - MB 139 (late 1990's tri-tone)
    - Leonardo Momento Zero Blue Positano
    - Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age
    - (and just ordered a few hours ago) Pelikan M800 Renaissance Brown

My last splurge was a year ago and I recently sold of a rather pricey item from a former hobby, so put some away and put the rest into these pens. Hopefully I'll be set for at least another year.

Here are the toys from the last splurge.

    ..and the HS Elegance...

nice pics! n nice fountain pen pick ups! I was looking at the visconti homo sapiens myself...but want the dark age all black model. Let me know how the bronze age with the palladium nib compares to the homo sapiens elegance nibs. btw Nice sebenza to go with the fountain pens. !

For this year's purchase, I went and pre-ordered a m1005 stressman. waiting for it and not sure when it ships. n trying not to buy any more fountain pens... my f pen collection has eh gotta out of control. I carry a visconti 12 pen case to work.... nuff said.

Pilot capless Black/gold trim just arrived.

I already have a Lamy D3 and I was very curious about the Pilot mechanism.

It is really a great pen.

Just managed to secure what is not exactly a grail pen for me, but one of those pens I want that has been rather difficult to find, and incredibly difficult to find at the right price - Platinum 3776 in 'Calico', a rather lovely black and cream/pearl celluloid.

That's pen number three this year. I've been very restrained so far! (Or another way of looking at it: I've lost a lot of auctions.)

...... Waaaaaah, now numbers four and five have also appeared, a couple of beat up Pelikan 400s which might get the Penwash treatment (new bindes in Conway Stewart and Omas swirly acrylic). I was doing so well till this week!

My Hemisphere Lux Saphir (F) arrived. Writes just as nicely as my wife's Hemi in Blue Obsession. Been wanting one of these for many months and Amazon had them listed a few days ago for $80 shipped so I pounced.

My latest is a Triumph Safety Pen (Ebonite body) with an exquisite fine nib (with architect grind).
Such a joy to write with.
Seems to be an eyedropper, but haven't had a chance to really figure the filling mechanism out yet.
