Pelikans like to hang together in flocks. So after my vibrant orange, I have managed to find "in the wild"

    * a Pelikano 450 red, still with its 'one year guarantee' sticker, in a box of ballpoints at a sale
    * a Pelikan 400 tortoise with the wrong cap (400nn cap I think)
    * a Pelikan 200 tortoise

They're a bit like London buses - none at all for ages, then they all come at once!

My wife is getting me this Sheaffer Sentinel for Father's Day. She let me pick it out! It's on its way, but I won't get to see it until Father's Day arrives.

I've wanted a Snorkel since I was a little kid back in the 1950s, and all my parents would let me have was a crappy old Scripto that skipped and leaked and sometimes wouldn't write at all, until an entire blob of ink would come out all at once. I used to dream about how cool it would be to have a Snorkel.

I'm a little behind here, but I got my first Pelikan, an M205, from someone here on FPG.

It needed a bit of flow tuning and smoothing but it seems to work well now. The nib is surprisingly sensitive to pressure, making it quite interesting.

My wife has SAD (Sheaffer Attachment Disorder). She seizes every Sheaffer that comes into the house. One time I picked up the grey version of this pen for $1 at a flea market. To this day I have not written with it.

A Lamy 2000 acquired via trade with HolmeSlice last week!

I bought that Lamy red, white, and blue pen with a 1.1 calligraphy nib.

Ditto on the trade with countrydirt; we swapped Lamy 2000s’ to exchange nib sizes (gained a stock B in exchange for a properly tuned F). Now I’m looking forward to attending the Ohio Pen Show, to slap a custom grind on my “new-to-me” pen. Also picked up a Wing Sung 601 & Edison Nouveau - Seaglass, via trades on another forum.

This 1952 Parker 21 arrived yesterday.

The nib was crudded up with something stubborn so after soaking to no avail I disassembled and cleaned up the nib. Here is the before pic.

Note the 2nd quarter 1952 date code.

It seems to be writing better than the last 21. I still think these things are unusually drip prone. Below is a writing sample with Quink Black.

This Parker Duofold Junior in red arrived yesterday, now clean and with a new sac and inked with good ol' Quink Black.

Picked this up for $5 on impulse at Walgreens last night.

Zebra 301 series has been my go to for mechanical pencils and ballpoint pens for ages.

On the back it says: "Zebra Pen guarantees the performance of this writing instrument. If it fails to perform properly, please return it to Zebra Pen Corp. for repair or replacement. Guarantee is void in the event ofabuse or physical damage."

Not bad for a $5 fountain pen!

I'll try it out once I've run another pen or two out of ink.

Last acquisition was this Swan Self Filler

    swan_3162_self_filler.jpg

Nothing special but following a simple sac replacement I found that the medium #1 nib turned out to be a lot more of a flexible writer than I expected

    A fun discovery

I don't employ the "G" word regarding my pens, but I've been on the hunt for this pen for 7 years: a rare 2003 Sheaffer Legacy 2 "Jim Gaston" Limited Edition in cobalt blue. Only 100 were made, and this one appears to be unused; the "B" marking on the back of the section is fresh. My quick photo capture barely does it justice, as the metal barrel has seven layers of blue lacquer on it, and changes look with every lighting. Very pleased with this one!

That looks good to be as old as it is

It was awful, unfortunately. One of the worst pens I've encountered.

I did a review on it in the pen review section. Apparently I am not alone in my experience.

Far better pens can be found in the sub $10 category.

I had one of those. It may have been the only fountain pen that I actually threw away. I would not even have given it away to a beginner needing a cheap first fountain pen, as it would have given them the wrong idea about fountain pens in general.
