Zebra 301 series has been my go to for mechanical pencils and ballpoint pens for ages.

On the back it says: "Zebra Pen guarantees the performance of this writing instrument. If it fails to perform properly, please return it to Zebra Pen Corp. for repair or replacement. Guarantee is void in the event ofabuse or physical damage."

Not bad for a $5 fountain pen!

I'll try it out once I've run another pen or two out of ink.
For the last 5 years or so, Iíve said Iím gonna pick up a zebra the next time Iím at a Walgreens and I never do. How is yours writing?

It was awful, unfortunately. One of the worst pens I've encountered.

I did a review on it in the pen review section. Apparently I am not alone in my experience.

Far better pens can be found in the sub $10 category.

I had one of those. It may have been the only fountain pen that I actually threw away. I would not even have given it away to a beginner needing a cheap first fountain pen, as it would have given them the wrong idea about fountain pens in general.

I pitched mine too. I've only done that with 2 or 3 cheap pens. Ugh.

A little bit new and a little bit old

Yesterday my Franklin Christoph Model 66 Antique Glass SE arrived and its all inked up with Sailor Ink Studio #162 (a light grey green )

And today , I received a nice Green Hatched Conway Stewart 58 with an accompanying Mabie Todd Swan Self-Filler Box. It was listed as a Swan Self-Filler but I could see in the pictures it was a Conway Stewart of some form and I'm glad I was right - not sure I got any real bargain but it was satisfying to know I knew it was misidentified

Just needs a new sac which is within the limits of my repair skills

I have heard so many things about them, both good and bad. Let us know how you like them.

I bought this used Parker 100 pen while in Florida in June. I've only just started to get it writing as it should after much cleaning out. It's scary pulling out that nib to check the feed is OK.

That 100 is a pretty pen. I am unfamiliar with the model.

I have a couple of new Parkers, now.

I've been wanting an unassuming 51 Special for a few months. The teal blue is a bonus. This one was made in 3Q 1950 and has a perfectly nice Octanium nib. Microscratches abound but the pen works perfectly and the Pli-glass sac looks new with no discoloration.

The red 45 CT was kind of a whim. I saw Fred's listing here and it ticked a couple of quest boxes: red 45 and CT. This one has a nice gold, medium nib and, as a bonus, a squeeze converter.

Gorgeous. I think the Waterman Carene is underrated and overlooked by serious FP geeks. I have two, Pink Gold and Coral. They both have medium nibs and are beautiful, smooth writers. They also have a very nice, balanced feel in the hand. Good score.
