Self isolating at the moment so I've treated myself to a lovely second hand Yard O Led Retro Grand (The black resin with Sterling Silver parts model)

Its a substantial pen in so many ways and feels very solid, its heavy at 51g inked and this one has a very firm but smooth fine nib ,even the barley pattern chased resin parts feel thicker than many pens (~2.6mm).

A large pen but a lovely writer

I was thrilled to have acquired a Sailor Pro Gear Graphite Lighthouse. (shown here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-FdcGNjBpK/)
I love how the Sailor nibs write, and been wanting a Pro Gear since I realized the PG Slim is just too slim for me. I just couldn't find a design I wanted until the Graphite came!

Picked this up cheap off the eBay (which claimed to never have been inked, but clearly it was as I figured it would be).

Just got it this afternoon, cleaned it up and restored it. The sac pretty much just poured out of the pen once I unscrewed the nib unit.
The pressure bar was pretty rusted, sanded it down and polished it up and slipped it back in on the spacer, also had to resort to the hair dryer to get the grip out of the section (seems the plastic had some shrinkage especially around the inner cap).

    Recently found this Osmia Luxus.

The button filler is not working properly. Any advice or tips are welcome.
Would love to turn this into a daily writer.

These four arrived in trade. For the most part I had to pull and re-seat almost all the nib/feeds to their correct position, the nib on some was sticking very far out ahead of the feed, which may have given the impression that they were flex/soft, but because of such, couldn't support capillary action when filled normally, and not just dipped for testing. The Slimfold for example had the nib/feed positioned in such a way that the tip was so spread apart the previous owner thought it was a broad, once re-seated and adjusted it was a fine point.
I also heat set the feed on the jade Wahl for a good fit and excellent flow, and added a breather tube to the Skyline that was missing. I re-sac'd the Jade Wahl with a silicone sac.

And this little Balance Junior in Rose Glow that I am not sure what I'm going to do with (haven't messed with it deciding if I want to keep or trade it), it's a little on the small side for me, though not as bad as the lady size carmine balance I had.

The Wahl LT and Skyline are both currently inked :

That Skyline moire color is to die for. Very nice set of pens there.

And while I would prefer a semi-flex of sort, it's not everyday I come across something of an accountant style nib (XXF Firm)

The Jade Wahl though, seems it either doesn't like silicone sacs or something else, as it decides to burp upwards into the cap earlier today (as it remains upright), probably temperature differential, but usually don't expect it to happen when upright. The Skyline though (partly because of the breather tube and feed design), handles like a champ.

Wow very nice. I have a Balance with a posting nib and it is pretty awesome. Yours is a special pen for sure.

That's odd. But then I don't have experience with silicone sacs. Are those the ones that are very slightly air permeable?

They are, and it did the same thing to an Esterbrook J today that was just left sitting upright in a cup (installed a silicone one for a client). Silicone sacs are gas permeable which is why you can't store them on their side or upside down (desk pen), they have to stay nib up. When I pulled the section out, I noticed that pretty much all the ink stayed in the grip area and didn't even make it down to the middle of the sac, some weird surface tension going on.

I noticed on the Jade Wahl, when I refilled, and made sure the ink got to the bottom of the sac, it didn't do a weird burpage upwards anymore. So I did a dish detergent and ammonia flush on the estie grip/sac and flushed with clean water in the hope that I got any residue on the walls of the sac, since I didn't bother to flush either when I installed them, just installed them straight from the bag. So we'll see. But yea I recall a long time ago, silicone was annoying in the sense that ink likes to hug in weird places and you can't exactly throw an agitation device in a lever filler (like a tiny spring or BBs).

I re-sac'd my Pilot Super 250 and Parker Slimfold with a fresh PVC sacs, at least those don't have any gas permeability or the weird surface tension thing going. (but they can't be used in celluloid pens).

Default What is your latest pen acquisition?

These are all pretty recent as I've started down the slippery slope of pen collecting...

    Montblanc Jonathan Swift

    Lamy Safari

    MB Meisterstuck Vermeil 144 Fine

    Pelikan M200 Smokey Quartz

MB Amadeus, FP, RB, and mechanical pencip

and Fisher Space Pen Bullet (it pairs well with the Ridge wallet).

Some more will be coming in before too long.

A couple of more came in; one is a MB Monte Rosa and the other a nice little Waterman Laureat in marble blue.

The fountain pen version; I've had the ball point since the 90s. Actually the notebook as well.

I bought the ball point back in the late 90s at a HD dealership when I lived in Tucson, AZ. I'd totally forgotten about it until about a week ago when I picked up an old journal that I started back them. It was in the pen pocket of the journal (the picture shows the outside of the journal). I looked at the pen and found out it's a Waterman and seemed solidly put together. I decided to see if it has any value and searched eBay. There to my surprise was the fountain pen version (also by Waterman). I made an offer on the buy it now price and the seller accepted it. It came in with ink dried out in it and unable to flow. I spent at least an hour working on it and now it writes pretty well. I don't remember what I paid for the ball point. I paid $20 for the fountain pen with its original packaging. It has a cartridge converter in it. Back in the 90s living in Tucson, I rode a lot. I still have the bike but it doesn't get much use these days. If you search Harley Davidson Pen on eBay you'll find quite a few of them (not with the same design however).

Thanks for the info, I’ll check out eBay. Either one would make a perfect birthday gift for my Harley buddy.
