Apt to post here, as I found it here in the Sales forum (thanks, linkinyeah). This is a limited edition Momento Zero with ruthenium plated nib and hardware. Even with the "Hi there!" Delta-esque orange barrel, the rest of the pen gives off a stealthy aura. A bit hard to capture but this is a quick document. And, as all their pens have been, a really nice writer! #18 of 25 made for Pen Chalet, welcome home.

Got this in trade. The Parker Vacumatic Azure, 3rd generation with a 2nd generation blind cap. As well as a 1960s-ish Japanese mechanical pencil (this one being branded Kent).

That beauty has it all: great colour, nice transparency, double jewel, pristine furniture and a gorgeous nib. Congratulations.

Though technically it's only supposed to be a single jewel if it had a correct blind cap for a 3rd gen.

For the past year, I have been drawn to the Sheaffer conical-nibbed Triumph-style plunger-fillers from '42 to about '49. I picked up two more, one of which is this Triumph Vac-Fill desk pen in golden-brown striated celluloid. This pen strangely included a cap which was explained when Ron Zorn restored the plunger rod and seals. The former owner had used improper pocket pen parts to jury-rig the mechanism and sent the cap along with the pen. Ron had the correct internal desk pen parts and removed the offending parts to put all in proper order. One of these days I should try plunger restoration, but I keep missing Ron's seminar on the topic and I'm reluctant to pour more specialty tools into my pen toolbox.

Wartime Sheaffer production created an odd variation of detail on these desk pens. The trumpet (or "tulip") is threaded to match the threads on the barrel, promoting a tighter seal. Sheaffer moved the white dot around; some (like this pen) have the dot on the barrel while others have the dot on the taper. The celluloid color of the taper could be a better match to the barrel, and I confirmed other examples sport the same. This F is a very smooth writer typical of Triumph-style nibs no matter how fine the tip, even down to EF. The firm upturned tines help make it so, and the huge feed (or "collector") makes ink flow well-regulated.

So, this one is on my desk, filled with Omas Sepia ink.

It certainly matches up nicely (colour wise) with the barrell.

The second of these is a Sheaffer Crest Vac-Fill with green striated celluloid barrel and frosted stainless cap. The conical Triumph-style 14k nib is a very smooth firm M. The plunger rod and seals were likewise restored by Ron Zorn. I was surprised to note that the pen is as big as my two Valiant Vac-Fills, and have been told it's because this is a Crest "DeLuxe."

But wait, another collector posts that a similar pen is a Sentinel DeLuxe! I need to learn more about these Sheaffer pens from the '40s, but I must stop taking any more of them home!

This pen is filled with Montblanc Irish Green ink, and is currently being used to write cards and letters to my pen friends and card swappers.
