Two '30s OMASes...felt compelled to take advantage of 2 interesting eBay listings...

The vest pocket model is considerably smaller than my beloved 1940's example--I had no idea about this size difference! Proportions are also more like a full-sized pen. The cap has a wonderful engraving which my iPhone camera can't properly capture: "LA STILOGRAFICA BOLOGNA". Never seen that before! Can't wait to have it restored...
    IMG_1936 (1).jpg

The Extra Lucens (in what would later become the 556 size) is simply glorious, even though it's quite a user-grade example. I can't get over the way the facets continue until the cap threads, and the wonderful looking and luscious F nib!

Nice one. They can get to be a bit of a habit. Can you read the year on it?

Very nice. Outside of the original first year crosshatch grid, the flighter is my favorite 75 version. Simple is best.

    A batch of pens.

I finally bought a Nova Orange Platinum Plaisir, since noticing it when I started this hobby. Now I wonder why I did. The chunky silver cap band puts me off and the entry-level Platinum pens are kind of dryish, boring writers to me.

A Greenwich green Parker Jotter XL, and an army green Wing Sung 601.

Trying out the XL because the original article is a bit skinny for my fingers. The tapered part of the XL's barrel isn't much of an improvement. I have to hold it pretty far back for a good grip, which is awkward. The Wing Sung is nicer to hold. A quick soapy flush, a drop of Robert Oster Deep Sea, lovely.

While waiting for that to arrive on a slow boat from China, I had a fire lit under me to go look for the original design.

I'm part of The Club now.

A better pic of that forest green colour. These popped up on ebay as an untested set from a house clearance or something. The photos of the exterior looked so good, I thought I'd take a punt at it. They just arrived the other day and they're in excellent condition, as far as I can tell, never having used a Parker 51 before. Some minor wear and barely noticeable scratches; nib, feed, aerometric sac are working fine, just needed a bit of dried ink flushed out; the pencil still has a few leads and they advance nice and promptly. (I understand this push-cap model can have problems with broken leads jamming the mechanism)
The biggest problems I've noticed so far are the extra scratches around the tip, and the nib, while apparently gold-coloured, is an absolute nail. But maybe I'll care more when I come down.

This dark dark purple ripple ebonite Newton Townsend. Fine nib. It arrived the end of July.

    Targa.jpg

Here's a lovely eBay result. I ordered this Sheaffer Targa (F) last week. I thought it was a slim, since it was pictured with a slim cartridge. I was okay with that result. I got it for a great price, especially with a gold nib and the matte black finish that I wanted.

Opened the package, and behold: Full sized Targa in terrific used condition! My Sheaffer twist converter fit right in. It's writing beautifully with Serenity Blue.

    Good times.

Plus, I now have a slimline cartridge for when I eventually do get a slim Targa and need a refillable ink option.

I turned 10 in 1983. Pretty sure I do not have anything I bought that year!

This pen really is great. I love the matte finish. I have a brushed stainless BP/Pencil Targa set, and I would also like to get a FP in that finish - in Medium, to complement this Fine one.,

I really like them. They are pretty cool looking. I have one in black and now one in the silver with the Turquoise cap.

Parker Vac from a local store. Moving 300+ miles away back to my permanent home again in about a month. Sad that the only store that has pens I will be so far away from...

And this eversharp skyline. Less than 120 for the two in restored condition. Store has a sheaffer pfm and imperial too. Tough not to pick one up and that's all the vintage pens I have interest in getting (sans Pelikan, not sure whether I want vintage or modern). Pfm and imperial are 160 each, pfm for that price is a little tempting.

Excellent score. I have 3 of these and I love them. IMHO they are quite underrated and underappreciated by the FP cognoscenti.

Not by this one. They’re very well made and reliable, Some of the fancier versions like the Fred Force are a bit much for me, but the matte black and stainless versions more than make up for it.
