Utah? https://narwhalcompany.com/pages/about-us I recall reading that the pen was named to connect to the Philadelphia Pen Show (rather esoteric name for those not from southeast Pennsylvania) while the vendor was attending the show.

I grew up swimming and fishing in the Schuylkill across from Valley Forge, and now I want an ebonite Narwhal Schuylkill.

To connect with the Philadelphia show....that’s interesting. Of all the words they could have chosen, they pick this odd, difficult to spell, and even more difficult to pronounce word that no one outside of the area has ever heard of. Strange. I’m from the general area as well....though never set foot in that river, have just driven along it many times. I would imagine it’s much nicer where it flows thru Valley Forge.

Bought my first platinum 3776 (not sure why it took me so long) and it has horrible flow problems. Did the whole flush and floss thing but still going me problems. Also, the feed is really snug in the housing, so much so that I haven’t taken it out yet. I hit it with an ultrasonic cleaner and it’s still not budging. I think the tines are too tight because even after dipping it won’t write correctly. I’ll figure it out eventually.

Well I had a moment of weakness and bought a vintage Kaweco Sport (a 12 with the open nib). I couldn't help myself, it sat on my screen and called to me.

I'll know if it was worth it in a few days...

Some photos of my new Cleo Skribent Classic Metal Piston (I think that's the model name? a bit of a mouthful).

Love love love love it! Definitely worthy of a review when I find the time.

That's a very attractive pen. And completely timeless - I suspect it will still look as good many years down the line. Nice catch (and I suspect a much better choice than the original purchase!)

I agree - that CS pen has a modern-yet-not look to it. I love seeing a really nice pen that hasn't gotten a lot of exposure, or that I haven't known of. Congrats.

There is something of the Aurora 88 about it, to my eye.

I was really, really bad last week. In a year’s time, I’ve been congratulating myself on having much restraint when it came to buying pens, had only 9, of which only two were over $100, with most being under $40....then, BAM! I bought four “expensive” pens in one week.

Franklin Christoph in Arctic Ice, got an EF nib, which has a whispery feedback but is surprisingly not dry or scratchy
Pilot Custom 74, F, a little on the drier side, but if I write smaller, and more slowly, not a problem
Pelikan M200, F, much broader nib than I was expecting, but nice with paler, shading inks
Pilot Custom 823, F, Love, love, LOVE!!!!! Perfect.

So, my wish list is now much smaller:
    Platinum 3776 in Nice Lilas
    Esterbrook Estie Peacock
    Sailor 1911, standard or large
Visconti Van Gogh Orchard in Blossom

Beautiful Igraine. Congrats. I didn't buy a single ink or pen for almost 3 years and went a bit mad past couple of months. I guess sometimes it just bites you.

I don't have experience with the other pens you got, but I completely understand the enthusiasm over the 823.

I joined Igraine in picking up a Pilot 823. I absolutely love it! It is very smooth and writes beautiful!

I got a couple of little vintage lovelies this morning - a delicious Osmia 663, and an immaculate Kaweco 12 piston filler - which I've been after for ages. Very happy

In the spirit of "been after for ages", just started my second week of happy ownership of a blue-striped M605 with BB nib. No idea what my next "last Pelikan" will be now...

Not my latest pen acquisition but probably the longest acquisition - Here is my new (to me) Onoto Magna 1873

    onoto_magna_1873_3.png

I picked up the original pen back in Summer last year, very good condition chasing and imprint along with good gold fittings, but it needed a new plunger rod fitted and the original no 7 nib had a long split from the breather hole towards the section , just reaching the top of 7 and was a danger to write with. So after a long while of sourcing another no 7 and then sending off for plunger repairs I've finally got back the finished pen. The replacement nib is a stub so very different from the needle fine no 7s I've come across before , very wet and incredibly smooth , similar to a modern pilot in feedback.
