I bought a bunch of writing supplies of pen holders and ink today Including this Kaweko Al dip pen.
Very nice solid pen to have.

It's been an unexpected banner few weeks. I'll have a number of pens to share, here is actually the most recent: I found a partner for my OS Rose Glow pen, a "Short Standard" size Balance. The visual scale is a bit off because it (on the right) is resting on a slightly taller pen rest. Since this material was only in production during 1936-38, they are harder to find. I was really glad to see this, hoping that the dark photos weren't of a carmine pen. In very good condition and took little more than a new sac and a little cleaning.

Not as special as some of the recent pens here, but I was pleased to get this yesterday. I had one many years ago and have no idea what happened to it, so it was fun to get a replacement for it.

I originally ran over here (or whatever the online equivalent is) excited to share that I finally found and bought a childhood grail pen that will seem like no big deal, but junior high school me was obsessed with the Service Merchandise catalogue fountain pen section. One of the pens that I coveted was the baby blue Sheaffer TRZ (although the one I saw in the catalogue may have been a later Fashion, this is close enough), and I found it at Peyton Pens today, along with a green BB Pilot that I found while searching for a broad pen for shimmering ink. I am the living embodiment of the flapping arms Kermit meme. My birthday is later this month and this is perfect.

A second (vintage) Parker 51, in black, with a fine nib. Couldn't be happier, as these are hard to come by in my neck of the woods. It's now my EDC. Can't believe a pen this old still manages to get a compliment or two from complete strangers.

This morning I’d like to share my latest acquisition, a TWSBI Vac 700R demonstrator and matching Vac 20A ink bottle. I wanted a very high capacity pen for long travels, and between an Opus 88 and the Vac 700R, the 700R seemed to fit better in my pack, plus the ink bottle makes for a seemless “system”.

When the pen came, the stainless steel EF nib was not properly seated and not aligned to the feed. Still, even after adjustment it did not flow well at all. I washed the feed with very dilute Dawn dishwashing detergent, but the nib was still behaving poorly. I decided it was time for a nib swap.

Comparing nibs, I found that my spare Conid Titanium XF nib appeared closest, and matched the clip well. Once seated in the section, and aligned to the feed, the Vac 700R dip tested to a squeaky perfection. (If you’ve never used a titanium nib, there is a certain resonance that occurs which is both tactile and auditory, and quite unlike other nib materials.)

Nibwork settled, I started the filling process. Two vacuum strokes filled the pen to an amazing capacity! (Certainly more than 2mL by my crude estimation.) I am using TWSBI Blue Black, which is a fairly water resistant and wonderfully modern iron-gall ink (smells like the old Sheaffer ink with the tip well glass bottle with the yellow label).

The cap really isn’t meant to post, but can gentle sit on the trim ring, if you are like me and are concerned about losing or dropping a cap.

Now I am ready for spring and summer adventures, without any concern of running out of ink on a long, off the grid, sojourn.

I’d love to hear feedback of others using this pen, and thoughts on the Vac Mini as well.

    Thanks! Blessed day!

I'm so excited. I haven't bought a new pen in ages and ages but I was looking on Cult Pens recently and spotted the TWSBI 580 ALR in Prussian Blue.

Then yesterday was Cult Pens 17th birthday and they have 10% off and 15% off codes (birthday10 for a spend over £50, and birthday15 for a spend over £100)

All of my resistance completely dissipated and I placed the order. It should arrive today and I will hopefully post some pics then depending on light.

Look at my new babies! The TRZ and 78g BB from Teri at Peyton Street, and a Moonman with a penguin print fro Ali Express. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with writing checks and for some reason, it was the baby blue pen I always pictured myself with as an adult. The BB is for all those shiny sheeny inks the are all the rage these days. The penguin pen is simply adorable.

If I still had this vintage little penguin cutie I'd offer it to you. Alas, Rick Propas (the "Penguin") snagged it seven years ago as a mascot for his Pelikan biz, but maybe he'd let it go if you asked nicely.

I need to put my eyes back in my head. I feel like Tom from Tom and Jerry when he sees a cute girlie cat. Maybe when I buy a pen from him I will ask for information about that wonderful penguin!

Yesterday I received my Cult Pens parcel that contained my new TWSBI 580 AL R in Prussian Blue. It's a great colour and I'm pleased that I chose it. I filled it with TWSBI Emerald Green ink and it writes beautifully with it's 1.1mm nib.

This is a bit past-due, as the pen arrived about 2 weeks ago. I happened to spot a Platinum 3776 celluloid model in Tortoiseshell. I have a profound weakness for this material and while I have one and should have scrolled past... something caught my eye. Due to variation in the material they have different looks, and this one appealed to me. However, it was the nib that pulled me... what was it. And then I realized.

This pen is an earlier version and hard to date. Best I have gotten is early-mid-90s. The difference is noted in the 'old style', but not 1st-generation, feed design. But the nib has more scroll design on it and, of all things, it is 18k instead of 14k. One source says these were marketed at the time to Japanese pen shops. The data for variations like this are hard to come by, so it will be a gradual education. What I can say is that it is another excellent writer, a wet and generous M line, and I am happy to give it a home.

(Those are the auction photos, and the pen did need a little clean-up, but all was fine)

    WOW WOW !!
    This Looks like a killerpen!!!
I have two contemporary pens and they are actually EF... nail / sharpie/ hard nails/ non buttery/ or as you mane as any other . .
But that is one of my top pens. They sing on the papers with a soft " nice feed back noice reduction " I think this pen-nib is no different than the current nib version???
I guess since they created the first platinum 3776 they had the same quality wring nibs up-today.???
    Lovely pen JON!!!!
