I just bought a French made black Parker Jotter. Super impulse buy on the Bay looking at Parkers sorted by ending soonest.

I just received this Sheaffer Royal Selangor "Bamboo". Produced in the late 90s, it was supposed to be a series of four pens in collaboration with the Selangor people, but Sheaffer was purchased and only this model was completed (I believe in a run of 300 pens, though that might have been the US market). The body and cap are pewter, and hand tooled with a bamboo pattern. The "B" nib has a gigantic round blob of tipping, and I think I'm going to get a creative grind done on it. An unusual enough pen that I likely won't use as an EDC, but it feels good in-hand and writes smoothly.

That Selangor Connoisseur is a lovely pen. Is it heavy?

Actually, not so much. I expected heavier! Someone elsewhere asked this, so I got out the scale: entire pen, capped, is 40g; the barrel only (relevant as it doesn't really post), just 20g. Definitely in my useable range.

If it was my pen, I'd put that nib unit in a safe place and buy another for the fancy grind.

I've had thoughts about it, Fred. I like preserving a pen as much as the next person. That said, this pen is not a really high ticket item, in spite of it's relatively small numbers of production. As it stands now, with a big honking round B tip, it really isn't all that usable for me. Not at all. I've inked it for the moment and it writes lovely, but I can see that it may not be a pen i reach for, but a good example for the collection. In that case, I'd leave the nib as is. If I find another Conni nib unit for a very reasonable price, what you suggest makes sense.

I should probably just leave it. It still has a big "B" printed on the bottom of the section. It would be a shame.

There you go Jon, fixed it for you.

It is to bad you have so few other pens to choose from. I should send you a 3B drumstick.

You might go for one of these, too. They've held their value.

I have no idea what this little $12.99 ringtop is- if you do or have a guess, please let me know. Pictures from seller, I blew one up to better see the nib on my iPad.

Missing its lever, but pretty nonetheless.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Yes, I figured that’s why it was so cheap. It might be hard to find a replacement lever. I received the pen today and the nib is a little cleaner in person. I’m hoping someone could identify it. It’s not my normal buy- I tend to steer clear of lever fillers, but it was so cute!

Seems like it. I’ve been calling it the Adidas pen because the three rings remind me of the stripes. I think it’s going on a necklace.

I don’t think I will attempt the work myself, but I will eventually send it out for repair next year.

The problem restoring Nonamies is there are so many parts to choose from.
