Arte della Scrittura di Visconti (an Art of Writing set in beautiful amber/blue). I'm really enjoying the beautifully smooth glass nib dip pen that comes as part of the set.

    It's very attractive, isn't it?

I bought it from Giardino Italiano.

    http://blog.giardino.it/2015/11/art-...tyle-tool-set/

They have the Amber and Kaleido Orange left. Lots of colours have sold out. I think Andy's Pens UK still have the plain blue. US sellers' prices are ridiculously high.

It's really interesting and versatile. The fountain pen (which is quite small) comes with 2 steel nibs/sections (same as those from the calligraphic set) in 0.5 and 1.5, a rollerball which uses a standard cartridge, and a ball pen, with refill.

The glass nib desk pen (stiloforo) is a dip pen. It's the first glass nib I've used and I'm amazed at how smooth it is.

I'll bring the set to the next Geeks meeting.

Thank you very much Migo. This one is absolutely divine and not too expensive for a Visconti.

It was so attractive I have ordered the green stripe version from Novelli.it as this colour is no longer available in Giardino.

I don't blame you for buying it. That green one is lovely too. I was torn between the two :-)

This was my first Engeika purchase, and I'm very pleased. Apologies for the subpar photo quality, though. I have poor lighting at home, and so I can't do much better than this. See Engeika's web site for professional quality pictures:

    http://www.engeika.com/product/105

Note, however, that the pen comes with a screw-on cap, and not a push-on cap (as in Engeika's pictures).

By the way, does anyone have experience with this sort of maki-e? (I'm pretty sure none of this is done by hand. They use sheets of some sort...) I wonder how durable it is and how much coddling will be necessary.

I got a shipment of a lone pen today, a smallish Moore ringtop.
Upon opening the package, the contents fell onto my hand, in pieces.

As if the pen is not brittle enough (section already broken), looks like the cold weather cracked the barrel too.
The only thing I can salvage is the nib, a Moore Maniflex 14K.
    It writes XF and semi-flexible.

After messing with it for almost an hour, I was able to put it into an Esterbrook nib collar that I have spare.
It took 4 times adjusting the feed and nib position to get it right.
Plus when you deal with super brittle and thin nibs, it's always a wrong pressure away from cracking the nib.

But in the end... A Flexie-EstMoore:

I got a Lamy CP1 in the post today along with the fine nib there was a 1.1 Italic as well ,it's a nicely weighted pen for its size ( I bought it to fit in an organiser ) and feels good in my hand despite its slimness

I never thought I would buy one, but it came up for the right price over the weekend. I bought a MB 149 from between 1985-1990 along with a nice first style Crest set and a Duofold pencil. I've been pleasantly surprised by how well balanced the MB is for such a large pen.

Writes great but with Kon Peki it is SUPER WET and luscious. I love the Platinum music nibs and have one on a Chartres #3776 too.
