This Manupropria is a very nice pen! Congratulations.

...my newest acquisition is a 1941 Parker "51" Desk Pen in cordovan brown:

the base is made of a solid block of cordovan lucite.

This is a long pen (150mm unposted) made from ebonite with Martin's negoro urushi. There is no (or almost no?) step down from the barrel to the section, with the threads down at the nib end of the section, like the Oldwin Art Deco.

Martin will be grinding a fine cursive italic nib for me - this pen is to commemorate the arrival of my daughter (imminent) and will live on my desk as a desk pen. My first urushi pen and the next (big leap) in my journey exploring the beauty of artisanal ebonite pens.
I thought it looked like a Manupropria pen - great choice for a special event. When is the little one due to arrive (how exciting!)

Beautiful. I love the way the curved lines are echoed throughout the design.

This is a bit of a teaser post, as I have recently returned home from travel to a NPD, but haven't had the time for a full photo shoot. However, this little detail is a big part of the story, so...

If I was a betting man I'd say that looked like a Leonardo pen. Only going on the section shape and the gold-coloured ring.

I think you may be right! The shape and cuts on the feed instantly screamed Omas, but the section looks very Leonardan.

It is, indeed, a Leonardo. MZ Grande "Golden Rule". Pics to come, just need to get caught up!

No, but I won't throw it out of bed, and it looks nice sitting next to the brown ones.

Hehehe... nope, the only pens with me over there were a couple I brought along.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to capture this pen, but not to drag out things, here's a start. This is a Leonardo Officina Italiana Golden Rule (named for the Jonathon Brooks material, I believe) in the Momento Zero Grande size. 14k #8 Jowo nib in Fine. The pen is large at 150mm capped, but well balanced unposted, with a comfortable grip. Piston fill, currently inked with Diamine Red Dragon. As with most of JB's acrylics, there is a great degree of depth to the material, which I'll try to capture at some point.

The story I alluded to was that the pen was originally an edition of 100 pens, and included a red ebonite feed. I got in at the end, and was informed they had sold out but were going to produce a second run. Only a couple months later (Italy was dealing with a lot of COVID issues) it came up that the 2nd batch was not to be either numbered or have that red feed and I mini-freaked, as I think it is integral to pairing with the body. After a couple days of asking around, my retailer told me he had sourced an extra red feed and ensure it was on the pen. It was. Marco at Casa della Stilografica deserves kudos on this one, and when the pen arrived in great packing, I can say I am completely satisfied. Aesthetics in pens can be very personal and not all would like this one, but it hits all my spots and I am happy.
